I am debating getting a suppressor for my windrunner and can not find many good reviews. I am leaning towards Elite Iron or Ops inc. The AAC is double the cost and the muzzle break does not look like it would be very effective without the supressor mounted. Any help or links to informative articles would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 50 bmg supressors

There are plenty of options to choose from. Personally I have an AWC Turbodyne and I like it but really have nothing to compare it to since the only other 50 can I shoot around is also a Turbodyne. I will say they are hearing safe and we have not had an issues to speak of.

The AAC muzzle break is actually very effective. I have the Cyclops on my McMillan Tac50. Without the can its very easy to shoot for long periods of time. With the can, you have to be sure to hold on but hearing safe. I actually notice my grouping at 1000 yards tightened up with the can, even though the recoil impulse is changed. Without the can the rifle barely moves at all. With can on, the recoil is more straight back, you can defeat that by being directly behind it and using your weight to stop the muzzle jump. Either way it's a fun platform. I get a lot of looks when I put that can on the end and start firing.

The AAC can is the only one that I know of that is hearing safe.Don't believe the hype of advertising that they are hearing safe. Military test showed several years back that all the cans on the market were not hearing safe.(before the AAC can) I can't find the link to the test right now.

Re: 50 bmg supressors

ELITE IRON all the way, (windtalker) this can is built great, just shot the 416 last night, 15rds down range, no hearing protection needed, the only can i know of that offers a TD so windage POI is minimal shift w/ & w/out can. would post a vid, but eveyone says, the camera mic does no justice for sound suppression, so you'll have to take my word for it, if your interested pm me and i'll get you more info, this can is just as good as any, and you cant beat the price right around 1500.

+1 I thought the break wouldn't be effective also. I actually enjoy shooting the gun without the suppressor. I have found I don't get the over pressure like I had with every other break I had used before.

Re: 50 bmg supressors

Has anyone used the ops inc? I do like the idea of the two point mounting. Does the elite iron Increase felt recoil? And are these to models quick detach or just threaded?

Re: 50 bmg supressors

Elite Iron is a thread on, the 416 with the brake has more felt recoil than with the can, i would compare the recoil of the 416 suppressed with the windtalker to a 308 rifle unsuppressed, when shooting @ 1000M with the MKIV zoomed to 25X you can see the bullet impact the target, so it also reduces muzzle jump as well as recoil.

Re: 50 bmg supressors

thanks for all the input. I guess I better start looking for some more side jobs to pay for the thing. Still up in the air on exactly which one but I think it will be the elite iron or possibly the AWC. I would like some feed back on the ops inc but I have not been able to find much on them yet. If I am missing any good makers let me know. I like the AAC but the price is out of reach. Thanks again.

Re: 50 bmg supressors

Are both the Elite Iron and AWC thread on type. Is there any other 50 supressors that use a quick detach break besides the AAC. I just can't justify the extra $1250 for the AAC. Basically going back and forth between the AWC and the Elite Iron.
