There are times I can spot my bad wind calls when I miss the target completely and see no bullet splash. I am watching my own bullet trace. Its pretty cool.

The ballistic calculator(308, 175gr) I'm using says ~ 8 mils difference between 500 yards and 1000 yards. So if you zero at 500 at the bottom of the reticle, I guess it could be done, but your answer made me do the calculations and realize that would not be practical. Good way to educate a noob; effective without being condescending. Good approach.
