6.5 Barrel Length

I am looking for some data with regards to the barrel length of a 6.5x47, and can't seem to find anything that addresses my question. Specifically, does anyone have any real world results with a barrel that is below 24 inches? Would I be compromising the 6.5mm performance by going any shorter?

I know I'm not below 24 but at 26" and I'm getting 2920 with coated 123 scenars with 37.5gr of varget .010 in the lands sparked by a CCI450.

Are you going below 24 for handling issues?

JPipes, I also was wondering how much I would be limiting the 6.5 Lapua if I ran it at 20"-22" supressed.

Just found out that x47 is .473"....damn, another canidate for my new switch barrel build!

I read Zak's article, and that is actually what brought up the question. My .308 is 20 inches long, and I like how light it is.

At the end of the day, I doubt that I will drop below 24 inches.

Hi JPipes, i have a 6.5x55 and im getting 2,910 with 140gr Speer Hot-Core's with 49gr's Reloader 22, my tube is 24" with a 1/8" twist, i dont have any experience with 6.5x47 but i wouldnt go much shorter than 24" or your really pushing case capacity for velocity if your pushing them out past 700 to 800.

I dont see dropping it to 20-22 inches a big problem. I dont think you would loose much with the. But if its gonna be a dedicated 1k rifle 26 would be the minimum.
