6.5x284...Any recommended loads?

I'm picking up a Savage F-Class this weekend in 6.5x284, and I have to admit I've never loaded for this cartridge. In fact, its my first experience with the .284 case, although I've owned a few 6.5s (.260 and 6.5x55).

Any recommended loads with Sierra 142s or the like?

Do a google search on Whitley 6.5-284. He did a load workup using the new RL17 and was getting nearly 3200fps out of the the 140 class pills. That's nearly 200fps over most other powders.

I shoot moly so you may not be able to load this hot so work up to these loads checking for pressure signs...

140 Berger VLD
48.5 Gr. H4350
CCI BR2 Primer
Lapua Brass
Seated to just touch the lands.
Don't remember exact FPS, don't have it in front of me but in the mid 2800's.

140 Berger VLD
50 gr RE17
CCI BR2 Primer
Lapua brass
Seated to just touch lands.
3020 FPS

These are both about max in my Rem 700.
Again, work up to these, and watch for pressure signs.

51.2g H4831SC with 140g JLK, 0.020 into lands, Lapua brass, 2950 fps.

54.5g H1000 with 139 Scenars, at lands, Lapua brass, 2950 fps.

N-165 is the go to powder for the BR shooters that I shoot with. It also performed the best in mine. Tom.
