I am shooting a 6.5x284 and I’m having trouble with high ES’s and SD’s. I have shot a few different loads in it and got to 52 grains of H4831sc in Lapua brass. 52.5 seems to be close to max as I’ve started seeing pressure signs. At 52 grains under a 140 VLD Target bullet at 2.355” to the ogive is very accurate. Have shot .2 groups consistently, but is keeping high numbers. I’ve changed the primer from a CCI 250 to a FED 215M with no changes in group or ES’s. Small velocity changes but that’s it. I have changed seating depth from 2.350” all the way to 2.375” to ogive. 2.375” is touching the lands and 2.350” is .025” out of the lands. All with high ES’s and SDs. This load is very accurate out to 700 yards but I need accuracy out past 1000 yards. I’m still somewhat new to precision shooting and just wondering if I should just quit with the H4831sc or keep trying other things. The barrel life on this caliber isn’t very long so I need to fix it fast. I sort brass by weight and sort bullets by ogive so I don’t think that’s it. @52 grains of H4831sc the velocity is 2905-2940 on a 26” 1-8 Kreiger barrel. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. I hate to just scrap the load because it does shoot well but it’s starting to look like I may have to. Thanks for any help
