6X5 Thread V5.0 *new 1/1/21*

I shot Two 6x5’s today. I was wanting to try the SK HV Match Ammo I just scored. I started just after sunrise. Wind was kind of low. The wind streamers at 200 and 300 were barely moving if at all. The streamer at 100 was dancing around and blowing toward me pretty much all morning which makes no sense.
With my 452 I found my zero for the SK HV which was 41 MOA of elevation with my 50y zero then preceded. It averaged 9.51”
I still had a bit before the GP range opened so I decided to shoot my CZ MTR at 300y for the first time. It hasn’t really impressed so far to be honest, but it gave me my best yet 300y average today so there’s that. I wasn’t expecting much so I shot SK Rifle Match. I was surprised

I have entries for 200 yards and 300 yards.

200; Vudoo, NF 7-35, SK Biathlon Ave: 2.135 Best 1.158 The last group was a little hard to measure because I hit the clip.

300; same rifle etc. Ave 8.42 Best 5". I chronographed all shots. The 2 low shots were about 30 fps slower than the average of the rest of the shots.

Bench, bipod, rear bag. Nice day. about 75* with a little wind. Mirage was getting worse toward the end of the 300 yard target. That's an older picture of the rifle and range because I forgot to take a picture today.

I was able to shoot the Vudoo 360 10 Twist today in pretty calm stuff. Got decent results at 100. I’ll choose the last 6 for my results.

Unfortunately that was the end of the box and it was time to go home. I’ll let you guys know what I shot it with once I find some more for myself.😆

While the targets below aren't 6X5, they have the same number of rounds -- 30 -- although the first one, shot yesterday, has an extra five-shot group in the "sighter". Both were shot at 98.7 yards.

It’s been a little bit since I’ve had a chance to get out a shoot a 6x5. Got out today at 200 yards with my Tikka T1x

We will use group 1 for scoring today.

best group was 1.146
Average was 2.027

was shooting Lapua CenterX

I was on the 300 yard range before sunrise today trying to beat the wind. I shot Four 6x5’s. I shot one with my 457 MTR and SK RM that averaged 8ish inches.
I shot one with my 452 and SK Long Range that averaged 8.7”. I shot one with my 452 and Eley Match that averaged 6.341”.
The new best for my 452 was shot today using SK Biathlon Sport which averaged 6.241”.

It's been too long since I have contributed. I had a few minutes after work today so I took my daughters rifles out to put a few rounds threw them. They are still very new, I doubt there are over 500 rounds through them. They are identical V-22 Gen 2 in a Bravo both with Bartlein barrels one is 20" and one is 22", both have the same scope and trigger.

This is every round I fired today, including the cold bore group out of each rifle. The zeros are not perfect as I have never attempted to test ammo and zero for it. Conditions were not bad, light switching wind and looking into the setting sun. Today I shot a 6X5 with each rifle with a random lot of Polar and a random lot is Center X (same lot out of each rifle):

Sighted in my new lot of Center X and shot 6x5’s at 50yds and 100yds but the 50yd was the only improvement over my previous but not by much. It didn’t help after I shot this one that the lanes started filling up and the guy next to me was trying to sight in his 28 Nosler. So between my target rocking from everyone’s targets going back and fourth and the fireball going off beside me it was tough shooting.

Wow! Nice shooting @Rimdenter ! I gotta get my act together. Dropped a Trigger Tech in Bergara last night and going out early to check zero, get everything squared away, and see what I can do at 200 yards myself. I am NOT confident! Might try some SK Biathlon and see what it does...

Those groups look great. I often look at multiple groups and consider what they would look like if I combined 2 or 3, as if I shot them as one. Kind of depressing sometimes.

Not depressing, just realistic ... we're only fooling ourselves. I shoot F Class which is an 8x5 and I always identify the two rounds furthest apart and measure the 40 shot 'group' that results. Targets with a .35 average 5 shot group will typically produce a .55 composite 40 shot group. All 40 shots are for score and that is what really matters to me. I only measure the 5 shot groups because it is the standard everyone else goes by when I'm comparing my self/ammo/rifle.

That's a 2' diamond if you pile all the shots in 1 diamond , its shooting about 2.5 " groups. I fudge alittle if I know I made a good shot and its alittle off I send one right towards the 1st round hit. If it lands close I'll shoot the next 3 right there. When I move from target to target with this setup my 1st shot will sometimes be slightly off my face dosnt favor this ridge back stock like my othe guns.

6x5 @399yds. Well it was tough had to use a portable prone bench. Move 69 yds behind my regular bench, photo 1 is the Fx4 porta bench the wifes truck. Photo 2 is looking past the regular bench just right of blue chair you see a brown blob that's the target at 399 yds phone is zoomed to the max. Photo 3 is the groups wind was switching between 5.30 SW 11.30 NE bout 3-5 mph I just shot at the diamonds NE wind carried groups up gun was dialed for the SW winds group AVG. Was 6.975. MOA was 1.667 best group was 4.94. Moa 1.18

Bo Galloway’s dad BJ called me up and asked if I’d swing by his house and grab his stuff and zero his rifle for him. He’s gonna come down and shoot the big Ralston Shootout with us if he can get away. I think a break away like this will do his soul some good.

Its been a while since I have shot a 6x5 but gave it a go today with my CZ 452 Deluxe with SK Standard Plus. Its a finicky rifle to drive well so my groups can certainly be better. But I finally figured out how to be more consistant behind it. This was shoot off the bench at 50M with Harris Bipod and Tab Gear V1 Rear Bag.

To be honest with this rifle, Im happy to be around 1MOA at 50 with it. Shot this in the rain but no wind which was nice.

Thanks guys. Hope to have my Three60 in another month and then I can throw some down with that 😁

Quickoz, I have you updated with the latest CZ. I do think your MOA conversion is a bit off. By my math 1 MOA at 50 meters is 0.571” let me know if I am wrong.

I'll have another look later. It could be. I worked it out according to the equation on the bottom of the sheet.

I guess I could just do the target at 50yds too.. 😂😂

I was shooting my 10-22 the other day at 350 yards and it seemed to like the lot of SK Biathlon I was shooting. Today I decided to fine tune my 50 yard zero with this load and ended up shooting a 6x5.

50 yards. Ruger 10-22 tuned by CPC, Hogue barrel, Kidd trigger, Vortex PST 2 scope, SK Biathlon ammo, shooting from my garage bench with a bipod and rear bag.

Groups 3-8. Average: .312" and best .230". Groups 9 & 10 were a different lot.

Not a bad shooting 10/22 BillOH, I have it on the results. I did not know Hogue made / sold barrels for the 10/22.

I bought this rifle used from a shooting buddy. He had put the barrel on it years ago. I couldn't find much info about Hogue barrels. I think they only sold them for a short while.

I measured them all and didn’t improve at all. Then I remembered that I shot one shot to see where I was hitting at 200 yards and forgot during measuring. It can be seen at the bottom center target. It was actually a much smaller group with one double hole. I think it would have improved on my previous best 6x5 with that rifle, but I can’t remeasure and do the math again because I’ve already cut up the cardboard and threw it away. Oh well, next time

Went out this morning to try a 50 @ 200 yards so thought I would run a 5X6 while I was there! Lots of fun! Thank you @jbell for tracking this!
