700 what?

Hi Guys.
Hoping someone might help me out. I am a savage guy so the Remington 700 line is kinda foreign to me.
Anyways My local gun store got in a used Remington 700???
its got a 18" to 20" heavy barrel with what looks like a AR muzzle brake on it.Internal mag and 2 front sling/bipod studs.And the standard small checkered bolt knob.I was told this is all factory but couldn't find it on Remington's web site. I was wondering what it is? I have been debating picking up a 700 for a custom build up.And the price is right on this one.

It's probably not really factory. I've seen those at a large gun store in my area of NYS where they take factory 700P's and have a local smith put A2 flashiders on them. The guy does a good job.If you're in doubt as to whether it's really factory or not,give Remington a call.Of course your chances of getting an accurate answer from them is dubious...

When you say the price is right...what does that mean? How much? If its not on the website and its not listed on the custom shop then it prolly isnt factory.

They want $400 for it. I was thinking it might be a older model that's not on there web site anymore.

$400 for a decent Rem 700 isn't bad. That's just a bit more than you would pay for a bare action nowdays. .308, even though there is a ton of them out there, brings a bit of a premium. It's just everybody's "go-to" round. I think it's a good deal. If it isn't you have an action you can barrel or sell the whole thing for what you paid for it.

Unless it's beat to crap you'll be able to recoup your money and/or make a few bucks with that one, $400 is decent, new is 500 to 600.

Is the barrel "fluted"? If so, it's an LTR (Light Tactical Rifle) that someone added a flash-hider to. Worth every penny if it's not shot-out. If it was originally a PSS I would wonder why it was cut down so much... and be that cheap. Just sayin'...

The barrel is not fluted, it has the "Overmolded" stock on it and the thing looks brand new! Not even wear marks on the bolt lugs.

Sounds like a sps that someone added a flash hider 400 is a good deal!

Sounds like an SPS Tactical with an aftermarked brake. Certainly worth the asking price

A good friend of mine just pick up a XCR in 300 WIN MAG for 600 bucks, brand f#cking new. The dealer was hard up for cash. Yeah, the economy is in recovery my ass.
