If you were going to build a 6GT for PRS would you build it on an Impact 737R or Defiance Ruckus? The final decision for my build...

I can’t think of a single reason to not shoot an impact...
Those two actions are extremely similar overall.
Only difference is trigger hanger and feel. You won’t know for sure which you prefer unless you can try them both.

Tate and gang are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. It doesn't matter if you're talking to them on the phone or shooting with them at a match.

I have half a dozen bighorn builds and am completely happy with them, but if I were doing another precision rifle build in SA I would try an impact just to see if they are what everyone claims.
Its basically the same as a deviant. Just some cheaper processes to keep the price down and also have pre-fits.
It felt exactly like a deviant cycling when I compared them at shot show.
I’ve tried just about every action out there. If I want the most accurate rifle with the smoothest cycle I go impact. For a hunting rifle that I pop barrels on and off I go with TL3 because of the ease and cost of changing bolt heads and getting prefits. However more and more companies are making impact prefits so that argument is becoming increasingly moot.

It's almost totally cock on open, depending upon the trigger. There can be a tiny amount of cock on close, but it can be removed by going to a -.015 or -.030 hanger, which is a feature none of the Deviants have.
They used to ship with a 0 and a -15. The last few that came in only had the "0". The cock on close is really minor and not something that will cause an issue 90% of the time. My guess would be they prefer for people to have the added pin fall that the 0 provides so they just eliminated the confusion of including the -15, unless it was requested.
I don't think it's fair to say Defiance's are overpriced, but I can certainly see why someone would pick other actions over them for certain features.

Lone Peak Fuzions come standard with nitrided finish.
Similar price and features to the Impact, so I'm not sure how it would be considered overpriced.
Any action that sells well is worth what people are willing to pay for it.
There is quite a bit of discussion on “Action X vs Action Y” on the board and it’s laughable to an extent. Actions are so much a personal preference, it’s like trying to objectively discuss which primary color is best. Most of the OP’s haven’t handled any of the actions they are asking about, which should be step 1.
I have an Impact and there are a few things about it I would change. I’m sure an honest look at any action would reveal the same.
Pick the action you want based on features, the company behind it and it’s track record.
Go to a match and handle some different actions if you’re unsure.
If you don’t like it, sell it. The $ lost is the price paid for the luxury of trying it out.

That's awesome, my ES is always in the 20s, even with the FX120i. I don't weigh my bullets or brass though.
I don’t weigh Bullets or brass.
But I sometimes turn necks, which helps a lot.
Regardless of neck turning, the things that really help keep my ES low:
Sizing down with smaller bushing and sizing back up with mandrel
Using a - .002 pin gauge to spot check neck tension
Using a hydro press as a final QC check. Different brass (and even the same brass at different points in its life) might vary on the PSI to seat. But what I’m looking for is consistency. If 99 bullets seat at 50 psi (+/- 5-10psi) then and 1 is 20 psi more or less than normal, I throw it in the practice bin or for checking zero (they usually print the same on paper at 100).
Adding a few small QC steps to your loading process will basically tell you when you’re going to have a high ES before you even leave the house to shoot.
I'll have to try your methods out, thanks for the information. I'm always trying to improve my loading.
My process
I weigh brass into batches of +/- 1gr
( Because I use a lot of cheap/free brass)
Uniform the primer pockets deburr flash holes.
I use graffite on the necks and like you a slightly smaller bushing so I have a little resistance when the expander ball pulls through
Powder is started on a chargemaster than moved to a fx120 for correcting
Pay close attention to resistance when seating bullets and seperate any that are heavy/light for fouling/practice
Im not familiar with the hydro seater

I got one in December and it only came with a 0 hanger. I’m using a TT Diamond and saw that’s what people recommended. It does have a little cock on close
I only received the -0- with mine also and have been thinking about ordering the -015

Switch to a bolt stop that doesn’t require additional inletting.
FP shroud that is retained in the bolt body with lugs instead of threads.
Other than that, it’s ? for what I want in an action.
I don't think it's laughable, most of us see an action as a huge investment and don't have a lot of disposable income.
I get your point though. I'm still using an accurized Rem 700 with a PTG bolt. It does the job fine, but I'm saving for a BAT Tactical. Like you said, I like the features and the bat logo is cool.

As fond of my impact as i am I'll agree that a twist lock firing pin assembly would be a plus!
Just remember when a primer ruptures, that shroud is what's between your eyeball and a firing pin being driven backwards by 60k psi of gas.

Did the lug not prevent injury? It may have been sheered off, but did the pin injure the shooter?
I am so happy this thread began, I've been racking my brain between these two actions. Currently I am leaning towards the Impact more, I know between the two I'd be happy with either, especially as I would have my Ruckus Nitrided, but my gut has me leaning more towards the Impact.
No more info about this?
I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever custom action you choose. Sometimes it seems we can have a bandwagon mentality...
The shooter was fine. The lug broke under normal use. I don't know what would have happened if a primer had ruptured while it was compromised, but I can only assume it wouldn't have been good.
I'm sure there are adequate ways to design a twist lock shroud. I only brought it up to bring attention to the fact that sometimes simple and robust are indeed better than convenient, and the reasons for choosing one over the other aren't always as apparent as they may seem.
That has me feeling slightly warm and fuzzy with my threaded Nuke.
Both are awesome actions. To me I couldn’t see spending an additional $200-250 for an action with the same features. Also, the defiance comes aw cut. To me that is a must have feature.
Prices on Altus right now are $1230 for a bare Ruckus. $1330 for a Nitrided one.
$1390 for for an Impact that comes standard with nitriding. The extra $60 gets you an adjustable trigger hanger. Also, AW cut Impacts were in stock for no additional charge a few weeks ago. Those extra features may not be worth the $160 to everybody, both are great actions as is. But if you're comparing price, I don't think you can say that a naked Ruckus has the "same" features as an Impact.

I suppose you are referring to a right hand configuration. I’m a lefty and impact charges a lefty tax (additional $50). Sure you can get an impact aw cut but you have to wait even longer, where as the defiance it comes standard. Both very good options, but I just don’t see the extra money in an impact personally.

I’m currently considering the same actions for my first custom build and would appreciate the input.
I ended up going with the Impact for my Comp Rifle, and I am so happy I did. My buddy purchased the Ruckus and while it felt like a great action, it was undeniable that the feel and smoothness of the Impact was hands down better in my opinion.
Yes, it is nice. My rifle build changed so I needed an XM length + BDL w/ Alpine Port. The Fuzion and Ruckus fit the bill. Went with Fuzion because the majority of people say they prefer it over Defiance or Impact. I'm experiencing an issue with it though and had it sent back to them. LPA said they couldn't replicate the issue I'm having and sent it back. I am still waiting for it to arrive to see if the issue is still occurring. Fingers crossed I don't have to escalate the issue.
Edit: I received the action back, have the rifle completely put together and I am not experiencing the issue I sent it in for.

If you had an issue, and if it wasn't identified and corrected, I'd wager it is still there. I've spent my life repairing mechanical items and I can't remember the last time one of them fixed itself.
