Is the impact a 99% cock on open action like the defiance? Or is it a 50/50 I've heard it's split. I'm kinda hoping not. I have an impact w/ a 25cr barrel being shipped to me this week for load development, hope to shoot a few comps with it this summer.
Careful. I struck a nerve with the Defiance mouthpiece last time I pointed that out.Multiple hangers are included. it comes with 0 and -.015. This works for 99% of triggers. And what do you mean “for the price”? It’s cheaper than a nitrided defiance that doesn’t come with any hangers soooo not sure what we are missing here.
They used to ship with a 0 and a -15. The last few that came in only had the "0". The cock on close is really minor and not something that will cause an issue 90% of the time. My guess would be they prefer for people to have the added pin fall that the 0 provides so they just eliminated the confusion of including the -15, unless it was requested. You'd think for the price multiple hangers would be included for tuning. I have a TT diamond, sound like most guys are okay with the -0.015. I may get them coming as I hated the cock on close in my origin with the diamond.
Oh and I'll add the GT barrel i got from impact is shootingI have 2 impacts
I've not had one issue so for.
They replaced a couple of other custom actions i had.
Im about to order a third for a 223 trainer
If you go with an impact you'll be happy!
Well their arguably the highest priced stainless action out there along with lone peak. I think they're both overpriced. But they're quality, as you'd expect laying 1600$ for a TiN action. I've been through their facilities and they have manned cnc 24 hrs a day pumping out actions. Obviously plenty of people find then worth the high prices.
That's awesome, my ES is always in the 20s, even with the FX120i. I don't weigh my bullets or brass though.
My processI don’t weigh Bullets or brass.
But I sometimes turn necks, which helps a lot.
Regardless of neck turning, the things that really help keep my ES low:
Sizing down with smaller bushing and sizing back up with mandrel
Using a - .002 pin gauge to spot check neck tension
Using a hydro press as a final QC check. Different brass (and even the same brass at different points in its life) might vary on the PSI to seat. But what I’m looking for is consistency. If 99 bullets seat at 50 psi (+/- 5-10psi) then and 1 is 20 psi more or less than normal, I throw it in the practice bin or for checking zero (they usually print the same on paper at 100).
Adding a few small QC steps to your loading process will basically tell you when you’re going to have a high ES before you even leave the house to shoot.

I only received the -0- with mine also and have been thinking about ordering the -015I got one in December and it only came with a 0 hanger. I’m using a TT Diamond and saw that’s what people recommended. It does have a little cock on close
What would you change about an impact?
As fond of my impact as i am I'll agree that a twist lock firing pin assembly would be a plus!Switch to a bolt stop that doesn’t require additional inletting.
FP shroud that is retained in the bolt body with lugs instead of threads.
Other than that, it’s ? for what I want in an action.
HmmJust remember when a primer ruptures, that shroud is what's between your eyeball and a firing pin being driven backwards by 60k psi of gas.
The picture is of a shroud held in (well, was anyway) by a single twist lock lug.
I'll keep my Impacts with the threaded shrouds, Thanks.

Did the lug not prevent injury? It may have been sheered off, but did the pin injure the shooter?
The shooter was fine. The lug broke under normal use. I don't know what would have happened if a primer had ruptured while it was compromised, but I can only assume it wouldn't have been good.Did the lug not prevent injury? It may have been sheered off, but did the pin injure the shooter?
That has me feeling slightly warm and fuzzy with my threaded Nuke. The shooter was fine. The lug broke under normal use. I don't know what would have happened if a primer had ruptured while it was compromised, but I can only assume it wouldn't have been good.
I'm sure there are adequate ways to design a twist lock shroud. I only brought it up to bring attention to the fact that sometimes simple and robust are indeed better than convenient, and the reasons for choosing one over the other aren't always as apparent as they may seem.
Prices on Altus right now are $1230 for a bare Ruckus. $1330 for a Nitrided one. Both are awesome actions. To me I couldn’t see spending an additional $200-250 for an action with the same features. Also, the defiance comes aw cut. To me that is a must have feature.
I suppose you are referring to a right hand configuration. I’m a lefty and impact charges a lefty tax (additional $50). Sure you can get an impact aw cut but you have to wait even longer, where as the defiance it comes standard. Both very good options, but I just don’t see the extra money in an impact personally.Prices on Altus right now are $1230 for a bare Ruckus. $1330 for a Nitrided one.
$1390 for for an Impact that comes standard with nitriding. The extra $60 gets you an adjustable trigger hanger. Also, AW cut Impacts were in stock for no additional charge a few weeks ago. Those extra features may not be worth the $160 to everybody, both are great actions as is. But if you're comparing price, I don't think you can say that a naked Ruckus has the "same" features as an Impact.
How do you like it?I ended up going with a LPA Fuzion lol
I ended up going with the Impact for my Comp Rifle, and I am so happy I did. My buddy purchased the Ruckus and while it felt like a great action, it was undeniable that the feel and smoothness of the Impact was hands down better in my opinion.I am so happy this thread began, I've been racking my brain between these two actions. Currently I am leaning towards the Impact more, I know between the two I'd be happy with either, especially as I would have my Ruckus Nitrided, but my gut has me leaning more towards the Impact.
How do you like it?
What drove your decision?
I’m currently considering the same actions for my first custom build and would appreciate the input.
If you had an issue, and if it wasn't identified and corrected, I'd wager it is still there. I've spent my life repairing mechanical items and I can't remember the last time one of them fixed itself.Yes, it is nice. My rifle build changed so I needed an XM length + BDL w/ Alpine Port. The Fuzion and Ruckus fit the bill. Went with Fuzion because the majority of people say they prefer it over Defiance or Impact. I'm experiencing an issue with it though and had it sent back to them. LPA said they couldn't replicate the issue I'm having and sent it back. I am still waiting for it to arrive to see if the issue is still occurring. Fingers crossed I don't have to escalate the issue.
