Well guys the builder has my action trued and the barrel chambered. He will begin putting it all together tomorrow so now I'm looking for 7-08 loads that might work well with it. Here are the specs on the gun:

Trued 700 Action
Bartlein 5R Remington Varmint Contour in 1:9" twist
HS Precision 5R takeoff stock
Sightron SII Big Sky 4-16x42

What loads would you suggest for hunting and what for best accuracy at the range? I will mainly be using it for whitetail deer, hogs, and maybe some coyotes.

Also, the HS Precision stock has an aluminum bedding block. Do you think the gun will benefit from bedding the stock with Marine Tex?

Thanks guys!

For hunting those species, I use a 140 NAB over 46.0 grains of I4350.

Playing with the 120TTSX over R15 at the moment.

Never have tried the heavy bullets in my 7-08. I have a 7WSM for those.

What reamer did you use?

For thin shin animals like deer, and coyotes I would vote for 162 amax or 168 VLD's. Might a little slower in speed but has BC and more energy for longer ranges. For pigs I would choose 140gr AB, or even better classify it as an all around bullet. 120's would be a great light recoil round.

Ive killed a pile of deer in Lee & Worth county using BT's.

Hodgdon Data Center on line has a lot of good loads.
I use either the 130 Speer BT or 140 Nosler Ballistic Tip. In my 18.5" Model 7 N140 gives best performance.
For match loads I am using 168 SMK and H4350.
You'll need to work out how much is right for your rifle.
One thing I know, you will love the 7MM08 for long range shooting and hunting. I've killed a bunch of deer with the Model 7 over the years. And I used it to take a nice Pronghorn a couple of years ago in Texas.

Builder actually got the gun today and loaded up some 140 NBT over 44.0 gr of IMR 4350. Did pretty well I think....
