Because in places like that, only criminals and cops have firearms. The citizens are just fodder for the economy.

Of course the LA Times' conclusion is "lax" US firearm laws are responsible for Mexican violence...

Nevermind the dozens of laws broken in both countries due to smuggling.

Its almost as if criminals don't care about laws...?
