There was a guy in high school that came from a very wealthy oil/ranch family in S. Texas. He drank and drugged all his trust fund money away; arrested for DWI, failure to pay child support, drunk in public, etc.
He later admitted in rehab he had been molested by his old man who was also s drunkard. Now he's a born again Christian but last I heard, still a bad alcoholic.

He and his lawyer worked a deal to purchase from someone that approached them . They purchased , could not verify authenticity , posted no story , went to po Po and then handed it over . A year later being charged with Federal Crimes by FBI . IIRC she left it with other belongings at previous residence . Landlord called and said you left some things . She told him whatever trash it . So yeah complete theft right .

Texas is full of them. The original family member, usually a grandfather or great grandfather, was a tough individual that carved out a big ranch, the third generation or grandkids are spoiled rotten drug addicts that don't amount to anything.

Growing up, poors like me just wished we had access to property like they had to hunt and roam on.

Yep. worked for an old oil biz guy. Hunting season we entertained clients at his exotic game ranch in Kerrville and fishing season we fished 'em offshore Galveston.
After the ol man died the kids ran the company into the ground in about 10 years. dont know what happened to them after that.
