So my brother just moved to New York . He's in a homogeneous upper middle class to rich area . Surprisingly they are very liberal with all of the stereotypical judgements and behaviors. So it dawned on me that these are the A Holes that have ruined the State . They are removed from the inner city crime , ills of the free shit army , the angst of bustin your ass for a living only to see a high maintenance illegal female with five access cards and a wad of cash at the grocery checkout , illegal generated crime and any other WTF symptom of society you can think of . These people are not the working slaves that currently pay for everything . I do not begrudge their abundance . I take issue with the fact that they are less affected by their support of socialist agendas and when their fellow commies turn to them and decree
"Hey we'll just take some of you're money to pay for this " they jump ship.
I am not trying to start a who pays more in taxes debate . I am just stating that they are less affected by their lib decisions . And worse I believe that their are a significantly larger number that are affected . The Coup de Grace is when they move from the commie shithole they have created with no idea that they are the cause for all of the bullshit . Their normal course of action is to move to Red State X and start voting commie there . I know I'm preaching to the choir . Just disgusted this morning and felt the need to connect the thoughts on the keyboard .

The very best part is when those people gnash teeth that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is increasing their tax liability.

Because TCJA caps the State and Local Tax Deduction.

Those people live in areas that have extremely high state, local, and real estate taxes - to pay for all kinds of social programs. And these people have voted for those things and politicians that support those things for years. However, the *real cost* to the taxpayer of those programs has been hidden as those state/local taxes were subsidized on a federal level.

Now that the federal SALT deduction is capped, the *real cost* of those programs to the taxpayer is becoming apparent...and instead of holding their state/local politicians accountable for spending and reflecting on their own policy values and votes, they blame Trump and McConnell and the GOP as a whole for "tax reform that cost me a lot of money".

Of course, they probably also failed to notice their per-check withholdings dropped in 2018 (making their bring-home higher) AND failed to adjust their W4, contributing to the need to stroke a big check to Uncle Sugar...

I am from NY too, though I live in a rural part of NY far from corruption. I know enough people from these areas too question the assertion that they are tipping the balance toward liberal socialism. Certainly there are areas that vote Democrat, bet when the votes are tallied and it comes in 95% Democrat that is not an honest count. That is corruption at work.

As your brother gets to know his neighbors he will find a surprising number of Libertarians and Conservatives among them, their votes are replaced at the polling place. That is how they get from the 60% they could get honestly to the 95% they need to override the rest of the state.

It seems to me that the terrorist are using /being used by the commies who wish to break the spirit of indigenous populations of North American and Europe with self loathing and white guilt . In the process the are steadily painting Islam acroos the canvas of our aocietal fabric . I believe that the commies are hoping for the Charlemagne effect but don't have a full inderstanding of Islam . Islam is theocratic . The government is a function of religion . The government answeres to Islam . The Muslims who are happily playing the part of useful idiots are actually the real Lions and the handlers will at some point be eaten in the name of Islam . Funny how politicians never learn that Western Values don't mean shit to the Islamic world . Western politicians think that they are leading this transformation and will remain in control . In fact they are the useful idiots . See the Shah . Islam never stopped . Europe was besieged by Islam ie siege of Vienna and the Crusades . Islam has taken breaks here and their due to a lack of leadership . In fact if you look at history aside from the Jews , Islam is quite congruent in their aspirations . Funny that the real nugget with Islam is it's leadership. If the leaders saw fit to declare peace and coexistance the Middle East would stop feeding on itself . The leadership decrees archaic and barbaric violence in the hope of power . I guess Western leadership and Islamic leadership aren't really that dissimilar.

My federal tax burden was down 16% in 2018 compared to 2017, despite a 10% increase in taxable income.

TCJA works for me here in flyover country, where state/local taxes aren’t redonkulous.

I've grown up in NY and until just recently planned to die here. Crushing taxes, liberal agendas, and the worst business model I've ever seen. The entire state is controlled by NYC. If you want to live in NYC, fine. I have no issue with that, but leave my fucking home, family, and lifestyle alone and mind your own business. Cuomo is the biggest self serving, narcissistic, corrupt, dick sucking asshole I've ever seen and we have virtually no way to get rid of him. This state posses away BILLIONS of my dollars without a second thought. Everything I do now is geared to getting the fuck out if here. It's sad to think that I've worked all my life and invested in my property to be chased out by a cocksucker like him and his libtards. Sadly the only real solution is something that comes with time in a small room with bars.

I really think you said it very well in the OP.
Key to me in that is they’re insulated from the everyday bad crap.
Another good point is that when that insulation disappears or is threatened they usually move. Frequently to a conservative area. Why? Conservative areas by definition don’t have as much of the bad shit.
Colorado and Texas are good examples. Not too many years ago they both were conservative or at least leaned that way. With the real estate having dramatic increases in CA, they were able to convert their CA residence into significant money and buy more in either of those two states. Which in turn adds liberal voters, by the bunch, to those states skewing the political makeup.
I believe in another post someone compared their movement and the result to locusts which ruin an area then when it turns to shit, move on. I though that pretty apropos.

Another thought is the difference in the workings of political viewpoints.
Liberals, being emotion based, need others of their ilk to support and buttress their beliefs. The emotion drives all points in it.
Conservatives, primarily being based on core beliefs, appreciate support but don’t need it as theirs is core or in some instances, instinctual and that is natural and doesn’t require another’s support.
More simply put one belief is ok with being subjugated and the other cannot stand that.

I moved out of NY about 13 years ago and at that point the states decline was rapidly accelerating. Kids graduating from inner city schools were reading at a ninth grade level. Hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs were leaving the state and being partially replaced by low paying non-skilled positions. This is all part of the liberal elite approach to controlling the working class. Dumb them down so college/technical schools look unattainable and provide jobs at minimum wage. Their struggle then becomes the liberals political gain. Going forward the elitist will prevent high paying jobs from moving in, like AOC and Amazon, to keep the cattle slaves to the process. Saddest part is the idiots that live there cannot see how they are being made slaves.
