AA vs. AR barrels

Re: AA vs. AR

Well, the AA is the original idea maker/manufacturer on this thing so I'm thinking they do a pretty good job. Plus the fact, I have owned an AA and I was happy with it. I now own a 6.5G made by Saturn. Very happy with it as well.

I don't know about the Stoners. I've heard good things. No bad things.

Now for the killer. AA has them in stock, Stoner does not. I suggest you get one, put your rifle together and start shooting.

Re: AA vs. AR

Maybe you should add the word barrel to your title so people know what your thread is about. That way they won't be expecting to see something else when looking at your thread.

Re: AA vs. AR

Heard AR Stoner barrels are ER Shaw. Can't remember who does AA, but also more of a mid grade, so I avoided them also. I cried once and bought a Saturn...groups a ragged hole at 100y all day long...so I didn't cry too long.

Re: AA vs. AR

The Shaw/Stoner barrels are decent but cheap quality. They make decent hunting barrels, but don't expect .25 MOA with them.

AA makes really good quality barrels. Stick with the Grendel name. They Grendels are SAAMI certified and the other knock off aren't. The Grendel uses a standard spec for all thier barrels. If it says Grendel on it, then it has the .300 throat. The other .264 variants have different specs for the chamber and run a tighter chamber (which don't always work well in a bolt gun). Some of the factory ammos have had problems chambering in the .264 barrels.

The other thing you need to consider is "which bolt is being used in that particular barrel". If you use an AA barrel, they all use the same bolt. Sometimes, the .264 variants use different bolts. People have had problems with getting the wrong bolt with thier .264 variant and have issues.

The Grendel barrels will feed all factory ammo available without issue. No guarantee with the other .264 barrels.

Here is a site to get more info about the Grendels .......

The people on that site are very knowledgable about the Grendel and can point you in the right direction.

I use a Liberty barrel. They are a button rifled barrel that Saturn offers. They are great barrels and for a good price.
