Wondering what peoples opinions are on an accurate reloading scale.

It appears you should be able to get a good setup around 300 bucks whether your looking at the RCBS Chargemaster, Tuned Scale/powder Trickler, Acculab Scale with lee powder thrower.

I have an RCBS Chargemaster and its worked fine although I'm wondering if I can shrink some ES/SD numbers with a more accurate scale.

Re: Accurate Scales?

I haven't ran ES/SD with all of my ammo. I have loaded the same load with both a Pact Combo and hand trickled on an RCBS 505. They both shot the same scores across the course for service rifle. For 1000 yard I load with the trickler and scale.

Re: Accurate Scales?

For me, I use a Chargemaster and a Acculab 123 with a trickler that will drop by the kernel.
In my mind I'm making better ammo, but is it worth it?

You can drive yourself nuts with all the variables

I'm sure Boltripper will be along with the picture soon.

Re: Accurate Scales?

It's within the tenth accuracy that RCBS says, which means that's a tenth either way... When I first put the Acculab in service I weighed 10 charges of 46.10, I ended up with a range of 46.02 to 46.16. Within the the tenth up or down...

I've also done all the tricks to the Chargemaster, from the straw mod, to speeding it up.. I like the unit and would buy another one if this one ever goes tits up...

Re: Accurate Scales?

IMO once you have a good trickler like the Omega and a good reasonably fast scale, you are better off throwing the initial charge with a cheap powder thrower set a little low and then trickling up to exactly what you wanted.

I did the same. After getting the GD503 and an Omega Powder trickler, I don't know how I lived without them so long.

Ya....I've been looking at that for a while...Very nice, but a thousand bucks is a pile of money for a scale!

yes, I will eventually break down.
