Honestly i think it will come down to whatever you prefer. While on active duty i used a TA31 with the red chevron. I never had any problems using it with my night vision. Although for you to actually see the "red" at night, you do still need quite a bit of ambient light. If you dont have enough ambient light the chevron will look black. I still have a TA31 on my personal M4 and absolutly love it! For me, the only thing better would be the cross hair type reticle with the same BDC built into the reticle. But if your using it for a reflex sight, the chevron is better.

I am thinking of putting one on a hunting rifle, for western Washington and British Columbia. Typically lots of dense brush and trees. Either it would be a back up sight for a 300 WSM, or a primary on a 30-06 brush gun.

If you use the a NV unit on the back of the optic it does not matter if you use the Amber, Green, or Red it will be to bright for the NV unit and after time will burn the image of the RET in to it. The TA01NSN you can use the NV unit behind it. I have used NV units in front of the ACOGS and it does not matter what ACOG you use. Also if you are putting it on a bolt gun or something like this I would recommend going with the Trijicon Accupoints.

I prefer Green for low light and Red for daytime but they both do a very good job.

For the brush gun, I want something fast that will also work well against a dark background. 10-100 yards is the range. Perhaps an RMR on top of an ACOG, not sure. Don't want it too bulky.
I am not too far from Sacto, will probably come by CST some time in person...

I like green reticle best, as my eyes pick it up the better with peripheral vision and with different backgrounds. With sunglasses, I can't see the red reticle as well. Amber reticle is good for low light.
Green chevron is good choice, I use green horseshoe TA11H 3.5x35.

Like the horseshoe reticle a little more due to windage dots. But Chevron tip provides more precision.

Red is a better color for your eye to pick up in relation to the background, even though the eye picks up green better than any other color. For low light situations, green works much better than it does in daylight, but for the whole ball of wax, I'd give the edge to red. I really do like the green horseshoe though.

Actually everyone's eyes are different. Some individuals pick up red better, others see green better. It really depends on your own eyes.

By the way, fovea centralis means the middle of your eye. In other words when you look directly at sometime, like looking through your scope to aim.

personally, from experience I don't like acogs. just my $.02, but for the money they ak for them you can buy a better optic from NF, Leup, or USO. I know you said you are going to use it as a brush gun so it is no biggy but since it is going on a 308 the lack of a parallax adjustment really hurts it if you decide to ever go out further. I know people like the bult in ballistic reticles but if you gather dope properly I find hold offs to be more accurate. Everyone has their own opinions and that's just mine.
