Directly under the sun
I was looking forward to this based on the previews but after seeing it I must warn everyone that it is not that good. I'm glad I went to a matinee show in fact. Not wanting to reveal any spoilers so I will just say that it was very slow most of the time, poor back story, poor plot. The tech /cgi stuff was cool but not enough to carry the show. I left this thinking it could have been a really good movie had it had better direction/story line.

Save your money, watch this on Netflix

LOL It was a recipe for failure.

Will Smith + Jayden Smith + M Night Shamadingdong = Biggest Fail of the YEAR!

I didn't even know he was directing this. I wont even waste my time watching this when it makes it's way to cable TV. It debuted 3rd place with an abysmal $27M, I'm not surprised.

Yeah, it's one to avoid unless you want to pay to see some cool visuals. M.Night Shamalamadindong is known to be impossible to work with since "Unbreakable", primarily because of the way his ego was inflated astronomically after "Sixth Sense". His first two films, while he was proving himself, were wrangled well by the studio and producers, but since then he's just surrounded himself with "yes" people who kiss his ass.

Hey, I worked on "Battlefield Earth" and even that wasn't based on Scientology (I was actually accused indirectly by a film critic of placing subliminal messages in one sequence of the film). Will Smith is a Scientologist but "After Earth" has nothing to do with that shit, other than I'm sure he'll tithe part of his take on the film if it makes any money.

It's a father-son bonding film with Shymalamadingdong's touch to it so it has some nonsensical stuff. Will Smith and his kid aren't strong enough lead actors to pull off that kind of film and the whole premise of killer bugs of the future that only Will Smith can stop with a lightsaber is B-movie faire.

I had high hopes for the movie, but was somewhat disappointed when I finally watched it. I wouldn't say that it was decidedly bad, but by the same token it wasn't good either......

Yeah.... I worked on After Earth. Have to agree with the negative reviews. It wasn't a good movie.

It happens to all of us. From 1999 to 2003 I worked on one shit movie after another...Battlefield Earth, Imposter, The Core, The Day After Tomorrow. I had to go down range to OIF for a while to break that streak ;)

Oh man. I have a few good stories about that crowd. Funny, but Travolta came by Centropolis after we did Independence Day to see if we were interested in doing shots for BE. I love the little navy outfits they wear at their desert facility, so cute... Gahhh….

Your gonna have to tell the story some day about the subliminal messages, lol.
