AI buttspike vs DTA monopod

I know this is an old thread, but there were no answers.

I have been looking at an AX, and and wondering how the monopod compares to the DTA monopod. If anybody can chime in with experience with either, it'd be appreciated.

It looks like they operate in a similar fashion, but it appears that the AI monopod must be turned using the foot for fine adjustment. The DTA's fine adjustment is turned using the upper piece so the foot does not have to rotate. Can anybody confirm this? I only have experience with the DTA monopod, and have only seen pictures of the AI butt spike.

Thanks.

The newer version is different than the older AI buttspike found on the AWs. The newer unit has the fine adjustment rotate the entire leg or foot once the course adjustment is set. I prefer the operation of the older AW unit, but it was a welded in unit and could not be added like the AX setup. I have a TRG folder, the spike is like the older AI, course button and rotate for fine but the foot does not rotate, the fine adjustment only has about 1/2" which is a shame

Out of all of the buttspike systems out there, the Sako might have a very slight edge in my book. None of them seem to give me the complete steadiness that I want though to get *exactly* on target. Rear sand bags still win, IMO.
