Im sure this has been asked a bunch of times before but couldnt find a whole lot using the custom search.

If anyone has a link to a previous post discussing this please just post it and this thread can die.

Otherwise I have a AIAW in .308 with the factory M18x1.5 threads. I was thinking about getting a suppressor for it. Is there certain companies that make there suppressor thread to this already. I really dont want to cut down my barrel and have it re-threaded.

My thought was I would get a suppressor that would mount to the AI threads and then have my other .308 threaded to M18x1.5 since that gun is not currently threaded. By doing that I can run the same can on both guns.

I would prefer a direct mount thread on the suppressor and not a quick detach like some of the surefire models and such.

Thanks for any info/help

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

I've been shooting my AI-AW's suppressed since 2005 or 2006. Most of the silencer companies can thread to M18x1.5.

We, of course, make a M18x1.5 version of the 30P-1. Another alternative would be go to with the 30BA, and get brakes for the M18x1.5 AI and the 5/8-24 other rifle.

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

Zak Smith tried to PM you but it says you arent taking PM's. I have a few questions for you about your suppressors.

Mainly what kind of POI shift you are getting.

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

Shift depends on what barrel you have, you have to almost expect some shift, after all you are hanging a weight on the end of he barrel. The longer the barrel, the heavier the suppressor the bigger the likely hood of a shift you get. What you want is consistency and repeat-ability, so it is the same every time, most accomplish this without issue.

My personal TBAC 30P-1 is about 1/2" from center, as with most Ti cans, the weight savings help reduce shift, that and the fact I rarely go over 22" keeps the shift down to bare minimums.

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

Please email me with any questions. I don't normally take PM's because I don't always get the notifications and I don't like to leave people hanging.

Frank nailed the shift thing. My 24" AWP has no shift. My 26" med-Palma barrels usually have 2 or 3 clicks of shift.

thanks!

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

Lowlight-

Thanks I know I will see some kind of shift running a suppressor and as long as it is repeatable it is perfectly fine.

The barrel I am running is 24".

I will be looking into the 30P-1 cans then, is there any other cans I should look at as well? Never hurts to have options.

Do you guys think direct thread to the barrel is better then the quick detach versions of them as well?

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

TBAC doesnt have a QD, but a braked version, which is still single point. The braked version is a good design.

They have proven to be my most accurate suppressor in terms of the features important to me. There are plenty of others and people can chime in with a mess of the personal favorites, but the TBAC is better than most in the accuracy department.

Re: AIAW suppressor questions

AWs and 30P-1s make a great combo!
