I've been a forum member here for a bit, but mostly reading and haven't posted much. I remember the old rule was 50 post count minimum to post in the EE, and the new one is 100.

What date did it change? I just want to make sure I still fall under the old post count rule before I post anything.

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchange?

As far as I know it bumped for everyone accross the board as far as the minimum post count was concerned.

LL set it up so if you are not eligible, there will be no new topic button to start a sale thread. If you can make a sale thread, then you are allowed to.

Reading and lurking isn't contributing.

You've been a member here since September 30, 2009...so that means you have basically spent a year being a worthless member on this site.

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchange?

So, what's the deal with this thread? I see it asking a question in the OP, but then I see comments about how nice the scope is, etc.

BTW I'm guessing no one is allowed to post in the for sale section if you have under 100 posts, no matter what the join date, but I could be wrong.

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchange?

If you look at the poster, you'll see that the posts about 'nice rifle,' 'I wish I could afford that scope,' and '+1' are coming from the same poster. Shankster is 'actin' the fool' for the enjoyment of the rest of us.

To the OP -- the rule is 100 posts. No grandfathering. There's no good in complaining about it, this is Lowlight's house and we'll all play by his rules. One of the big complaints of the forum is new posters who jump on and in a single day make 100 posts saying 'nice rifle' or some other such ignorant comment while making no contribution to the forum. So make a couple more posts of substance and you'll be welcome to post your junk for sale. Until that day comes, try to make and develop a reputation. Just because you can post something for sale doesn't mean that somebody wants to buy your junk.

What you're seeing is everyone making fun of the tools who post meaningless remarks in the for sale section trying to raise their post counts to 100 so they can pedal their junk. It's funny because you'll see the same idiot post things like "nice scope" and "free bump for nice rig" without really being a worthwhile contributor to the site. In-effect, these people are by-passing the intent of the 100 post rule.

Oh man... that explanation killed this thread's potential. Good on you Shot In The Dark. Cheers.

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchange?

I know I am new on here, but I just found this site. I know on a couple of the other forums I am on, we had the change the rules for this very reason. Some people would come on the site, and their first 100 posts would be smiley faces, or nice, or sweet or anything along those lines. Then they would sell something and vanish in the night.

We had to make it on one sight where posts only counted in certain forums as people were using their comments in the for sale forum as a way to pad their posts.

Minimum post count is always good as it stops the fly by night sellers.

I'll get there eventually. Only thing I haven't figured out is on this site, I can't post any Want To Buys?

To answer the question "officially". If you have the option to create a "New Topic" in the for sale area then you may post a for sale ad. You got lucky, the software isn't smart enough to know better and you got grandfathered it. If you can't create the ad....well then I guess you know the answer.

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchange?

You all need to stop padding your post count.......

IS IT RUDE TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS OR IS IT JUST EASIER FOR YOU ALL TO READ HUH?!??!

Re: Am I eligible to post in the equipment exchang

Definitely all caps and no punctuation. Ever. Run on sentences that stretch into paragraphs are much better to use for explanation when the very next post is time stamped less than 10 minutes later with 'Well, I thought this was supposed to be a forum of people who know.... I guess I'll just go to (ar15.com, et. al.) and ask THOSE guys because they really DO know....'

The reason I don't have more posts is because I generally don't encourage the trolls.
