In the spotting scope you could watch the con trail on the bullet and the flight time was about 2.5 seconds. They would literally dive into the target with that much elevation on them. At that distance the speed was under 500 fps and would not be the best choice for a serious encounter, but they did function. Others were using Black Hills and Federal Match with similar results. Obviously, we were in a zone that should require at least a 300 win mag for decent results. </div></div>
I'm throwing the BS flag on this one!! 168's lose supersonic wayyyy before 1400 yds out of a bolt gun, especially at only 1200 feet elevation. What you are saying doesn't add up to what most of us have personally experienced using 168's from a 308 Win. Thats why most of us use the heavier stuff. You MIGHT hit something at 1400 using a 168 from a 308 Win, but it sure as hell won't be consistent, much less accurate. Guarantee that bullet is tumbling in the air. There isn't enough gas behind that pill at that distance. Ain't happening, my friend.
