I have the Gem-Tech HVT QD. I didnt know enough about cans at the time I bought it or i would have made 2 different decisions... 1. threaded. 2. titanium. So, I keep reading on the hide that I can send the can back to GT and they will convert it to threaded. I contacted them and they told me that it is not possible because it is press fitted/welded, bla bla bla. So.......... They say it is not possible, for those of u who say they had it done, congrats. Must be nice. I guess I will have to live with my mistake. hahahha. I have crummy luck.

Re: Another Gem-Tech thread......(Busting a myth......

If you ask the correct price for that HVT someone will buy it. Than form 4 it to that person. Just make sure to keep it in your possession till the form comes back. This worked for a buddy of mine.

Re: Another Gem-Tech thread......(Busting a myth......

You can only form 4 it so someone in your home state that the can is registered in. Or you can form 4 it back to a dealer for them to sell it out of state.

What is so bad with the QD. Curious cause I was thinking the HVT QD was going to be my next suppressor. Everything I have read or seen about them is pretty good.

Nothing! My HVT works great! POI shift is very repeatable and it is a very solid mount. Notice how AAC has had to increase the amount of teeth on their mounts every year?

That said, if the Titanium version had been available when I bought my stainless, I would have gone that route.

Re: Another Gem-Tech thread......(Busting a myth......

IIRC the only thing holding the QD portion of the can on is a small TIG weld, maybe 2.
Just make sure the mounting end cap stays tight. Though they say it can't unthread because they are torqued from the factory. Out of 20 about half of them had signs of coming loose.

This going unnoticed....

The HVT QD is OK but I think it weighs 20 lbs. hahahah My first post was kind of confusing, sorry. I was just trying to pass on some info.

I used mine on my 260 for the first time today. Poi shift was almost non existent and I took the can off several times just to check. Worked great on the 260. But my 7/300 wsm needs a different suppresor

Re: Another Gem-Tech thread......(Busting a myth......

I know they are widely used but damn they just lack the quality I would want for that type of money. End caps unthreading and faulty mounts....

Id buy a YHM 7.62 Phantom Ti over the HVT and Quicksand any day.
