Just to add to the conversation, many of the more desirable places to live because of cost of living, health care systems, climate, etc. actually allow dual citizenship - the terms and conditions usually involve buying into the health care system and owning property. But it's not like you have to "resign" or forfeit your US Citizenship to live in some places.
