Anybody here hunt/shoot with a 357 Maximum?

I got a Maximum barrel for my Contender… hoping to try out with one of the kids for deer season here in Ohio this year, alternative to the 350 Legend AR.

Have a pile of brass and some 180gr pills to dial in with a big jug of W296.

Here’s my Contender with SSK 16” barrel, and SSK folding stock/grip assembly. Sig red dot and magnifier (May swap these out for LVPO) and Dead Air Primal.

Let us know how it does for you. I used a 44 mag in Ohio, I got a 350 legend I need to try out sometime now in NC, but the 44 mag has won me over

My dad has a 14 inch barrel for his contender that he still uses every so often. Many years ago I had a 10 inch one and loaded some 180 grain bullets that looking back I'm pretty sure were for a rifle, as they were pointed soft points. Shot a hog with them and it zipped right through like a FMJ.

I've always wanted to try it out since i've gotten more into 357mag, but just haven't picked up a T/C or anything yet for it. For nostalgia I really wanted a sharps rifle in 38-55, one of the longer 30-32" barreled ones and really wind it up for deer. But the versatility of the 357 bullets makes the maximum a better idea overall as I can shoot 38's and 357mag out of it as well.

I would love to get a 20-24" barrel on something like that and really see what you can do with a 180gr bullet.
