Sidearms & Scatterguns Anyone have or seen the DW Specialist?

Considering DW's reputation of 1911s and it's price i'm really starting to put some thought into this handgun. MSRP says 1870$ but you can find them for about 1400$ at places like gunforall or tombstone tactical. The fact it has 25LPI front & back strap checkering, no front slide serrations, and aftermarket magwell, makes it very appealing to me. Although the dust cover and rail angle make it look different so to speak.

I've got the exact same set of VZ Grips on my Kimber, and they look/feel awesome. Dan Wesson makes a great 1911, and you'd be quite happy with it. That being said, a quick check with the distributor shows that dealer price is significantly above $1400 for the model shown in the photo. Supposedly the stainless Specialist would have a street price closer to $1400 (about a hundred bucks below MSRP), but definitely not the black one.

Yeah i just noticed the stainless was the one for 1400$. That kind of sucks. Apparently the Black can be had at 1680$. Isn't there a matte finish as well? Maybe when i have enough money saved i can find one for 1500$

I have a few DWs and they run flawless.My next 1911 has to have a rail and I like the way that looks.

I'm really starting to like DW's products hear/read nothing but good things, no MIM, lots of features, and made in the U.S. to be under 2000$ made in the U.S. and the specs above they still seem like an incredibly good production firearm nearing a semi-custom.

There's a matte stainless that would probably retail for about $1400, and a black Duty coat model that *might* be had at retail for $1500-1600 if you get a really good deal.

Yeah i think i'd be really lucky to find the Black "Duty Coat" model at 1500-1600$. Going to look at the Matte. Does Wesson have a custom shop? For instance maybe have the matte and send it back in later on for a refinish?

Found a valor for 1531$ maybe buds will get the specialist and have it around there.

You could always look at a Fusion Firearms...Bob Serva's new 1911 custom shop. He does excellent work, although the wait times might be a bit long compared to buying a pistol off of the shelf.
