Hey Guys as the subject says, does anyone from VA hunt these locations? I hear all these great stories of huge bucks. I'm not looking for anyones secret spot, just a general idea of how to access GWNF and general regions of interest there. Thanks for any tips!

Here is a link to C.F. Phelps area.

I have driven through the area and actually hunted there one time. A buddy and I didn't see anything but we didn't hunt it very regularly. We used the parking area nearest Sumerduck and hunted a powerline and saw good sign. I think it gets hit pretty hard. I would suggest Quantico if your looking for a place to hunt. Populations are good and quality of deer is also pretty good. Regs are not overwhelming either. Can't say much for the GWWR as I never hunted it but, I have heard that hunting is very good and access is easy as well as available camping. Hope this helps ya out.

Thanks stealth, I just did some quick browsing for deer hunting quantico. I had made a false assumption hunting on base would be more hastle than its worth. It definately looks promising.

I was stationed at Quantico a few years ago and lived in Stafford myself right behind the WAWA. OCS gate should be almost out your backdoor. Goodluck!

I assume you mean TBS gate, but yes it is! Man you've got me excited for big whitetail, from the information I've gathered about the magical hunting land there, I expect to take a 180 class deer home the morning out
