Anyone listening to the ACB nomination hearings?

I tried. Feinstein and Layhe's opening statements were so grating on my brain I had to turn it off. I will watch the highlight reel.

I am so totally polarized and hate the Democrats so fucking much I cannot give any reasonable commentary about them at all.
I do hereby nominate Sir Fig, Galant Knight of The Bear Pit to moderate the next debate.

This.

we must be brothers.

ABC (sic) got down to the basics when she said it was RBG who stated that a nominee should not answer how they would vote on a case because they would not have read all the pertinent information pertaining to that case. One should not "judge" prematurely. This makes all these interviews boring as hell!

Only exception is it is o.k. to say, "I LIKE BEER! I STILL LIKE BEER!"

Had some tacos in the little cafe with fox news on, Leahey was talking, his agenda was clear as it could be.

The Dems are going to use the scare tactic that if you have had Covid that's now a pre-existing condition, Republicans want to destroy "healthcare" (which is bullshit because it's about insurance) and the ACA so that millions of people lose their health insurance and then can't get anymore because now Covid is a pre-existing condition for forever, like you leprecy, or HIV.

Telegraphing it. Senate committee Dems are actively working on and laying president kumala's talking points

Yup. Her answer, and invoking the ever-so-revered-by-the-left RBG was a fantastic way to take the wind out of their sails.

Bravo to her.

Dick Durban shouldn‘t be allowed to be dog catcher. Fuck Chicago for electing this massive piece of shit to the Senate over and over.
He is one of the biggest pieces of human excrement in the country. I will never forget how he declared the Iraq War lost on the senate floor during The Surge. Pieces of shit like Durban will do ANYTHING for power. They believe in nothing and despise the American people.

Fuck Klobuchar. Harris and Hirono will be worse!

uhg i had to listen to Klobuchar drone on about how people are afraid of losing their voting rights because a judge in Texas let there be one drop box in each county for mailed/absentee ballots. and then she talked about RBG and her stance on the Voting Rights Act etc. Sickening listening to that dumb harpee

Well, I was told all the rich educated folks are voting Biden “to have a president with decency “..
I’m canvassing in a rich ass neighborhood right now..all the red are Trump voters..

If a person's lone issue is a "President with decency" they should have their voting rights taken away and NEVER be allowed to vote again. AND get punched in the vagina (that applies to the males also).

extremely critical point.
4 justices already voted that we have no right to keep and bear arms, in the heller case. one vote away.

Sadly yes. But I think it could be argued on a similar stance as I’d argue against abortion. Basically, rights are inherent as soon as human life begins. When does this happen? It happens at conception. With that, I think we can all agree that if any right has to be inferred by society, it isn't a right. It is a privilege. If "right" to life - the most important right, from which all other rights derive - is a privilege, then no rights exist at all, much less the right of the would-be mother to chose. That’s a winning argument where the right to abortion should be closed. Based on the equal granting and protections of rights by the creator that all humans possess a woman’s right to choose cannot Trump a babies right to life that cannot speak for themselves. And with that winning argument I think we can separate it back down to privileges vs rights which is how it should be and that the bill of rights infers rights that are granted by the creator, not man, and therefore further bolster the argument that just as the right to life is inherent, so should be the right to keep and bear arms as a basic human right. One that just so happens to be needed not only for the security of a person but for that of a free state to remain so against a tyrannical gov. The bill of rights is brilliantly written. These are rights, not privileges. There is a difference, a big one. Of course I’m not a lawyer and I didn’t stay at a holiday inn last night and this could be the bourbon but that’s how I see it.

Saw that first hand in 05. (A story for another time.) A real piece of shit. Went after the CSA and SECARMY accusing them of not giving a shit about soldiers' lives, then disrespected every servicemember in the room because the Army didn't select a tourniquet made by one of his crony cocksucker buddy's companies (and after he voted against additional funds for M1114s, Strykers and ESAPI plates).
He stormed out of the chamber like a child when Daniel Inouye eviscerated him in a way only a CMH recipient could.

Well Imchose to suffer through part of it while listening to NPR. Yes, to answer your question I am a psychological cutter. ACB is a freakin rock star. Her ability to quote cases, law, and option while stepping through a minefield laid by morns is impressive. She will be a fine justice and I look forward to her many many great and logical decisions.

nuf said. A real difference between her and Bidens teleprompter following him everywhere ...

Man, I saw that shit live and was amazed! She can intellectually burn right past them in circles like Roadrunner does to W.E. Coyote.

A female "Rainman" jurist. Just knows everything off the top of her head. She definitely knows her DOPE when it comes to the law.

I switched to C-span this morning just in time to see DickDurbin tell ACB that she had an "orange cloud over her head".

I confess, I did laugh at that comment. But coming from that retard, it's not much of an insult. A Dick-Durbin sounds like something you'd need surgery to remove.

It doesn’t have to be voted on to go to the floor for a vote. Gram can send it to the full Senate without a recommendation, which is not common, but happens.

"Schumer's declaration means that if one or fewer Democrats turn up for the scheduled Oct. 22 vote for Barrett, the Judiciary Committee cannot move the nomination to the full Senate. The move would likely have no effect in the full Senate, where there are 53 Republicans.

But there are several ways around the move, Fox News reported:

"Most notably, the Senate can vote on a discharge resolution that would remove the responsibility of considering the Barrett nomination from the committee, allowing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to call the nomination for a full vote. The committee itself could also change its rules to get rid of the requirement that two Democrats be present, James Wallner, a senior resident fellow for governance at the R Street Institute told Fox News."

ACB was two years ahead of me in college - undergrad; not law school. Total enrollment approx 1500; I met her, and knew her casually at best. She's whip smart, and it's been very predictable to hear lots of alumni who *didn't* know her bitching about things, and those who did - including several VERY liberal faculty - pointing out that she's one of the best students they ever had. The most surprising to me was an English prof. - who is the kind to teach an entire class on Jane Fonda's performance in Klute, which should tell you something - who basically said to stop wasting time going after ACB - she's spotless.

I have been impressed and happy with ACB's testimony - but not the least bit surprised.

God no. I had my fill of good Catholic girls by the time I was 22.

I reserve the right to respectfully disagree.

I married mine 50 years ago.

She has matriarched a family of fine Grandchildren, and a Daughter of whom I am truly proud. She worked alongside me as a Scouting Leader for all of my 40 years in the program, and manages a fixed government income so that we can have our own home, bring the two adult Grandchildren into that home, and still permit me to indulge my gun ownership fetish from the start in the 1990's. She has stood by my side as my advocate during two bouts with Lymphoma, a near fatal heart attack, and 16 years of heart failure and COPD. She has put up with my not inconsiderate PTSD and helped me put it into the rear view.

Without her, I could only be incomplete. She is NOT a lesser woman.

This line from the article seemed fitting for Demonrats:

Her progressive critics, however, who are legion, saw something else.

“What is your name? Jesus asked. “My name is Legion, he replied, “for we are many.
