anyone used 8208 or varget in 30-06, i have been using imr 4350 but it can be a little temp sensitive. plan on using a 150 to 165gr soft point or ballistic tip. it is a hunting rifle but would be nice to keep 1 inch group all year. we can hunt hogs all year in FL. never used any ballistic tip on hogs before. wanted to try sierra sp but have been told thay have heavy jackets that are better for elk & such, not for deer and hogs. anyone know of good muzzle breaks for factory barrels? this 06 kills on both ends. thanks

Why not switch to H4350? It is a Hodgdon "extreme" powder and has much better temp stability thwn IMR4350. Beware! They are NOT interchangable!

i'll try both, imr 4350 was recommended by the rangemaster, he likes it cause it fills the case better. i have some 8208 for 243 & 308. i'll try it just for the heck of it

I haven't looked at any data on 8208/ 30-06. My experience with it in the 308 makes me think it would be a little fast in the 06.

Ok I just looked at the hodgdon site. Powders on the slower end are producing much more velocity with less pressure. I wouldn't even bother with the 8208, go straight to powders near h4350 and be done with it.

I like h4350 alot. If a certain caliber may work with it, that would be my first stop. I do the same with varget in the smaller calibers (.223 - .308).
