Hey All, I'm looking for some starting loads for an AR10 in 308.Standard Armalite with a Rock 5R 18.5" barrel(1/11.25), rifle length gas, match chamber.
Using the following components for now LC brass, 210primers, IMR4895, Varget, and RL-15, 168 smk's, and Hornady 168 A-MAX. Any proven accuracy loads from a combination of those to work up to would be appreciated. I'll tuck away nodes for the 175smk as well, but I don't have any yet, but I know it likes it in SSA commercial loads.

Thanks

168 BTHP, RL17 @ 45.5gr, 2.816 16"bbl, ~2460 FPS
But, that's pointless, given your choice of powders, barrel and chamber.
Look at any manual, search your specific powder and bullets, do your homework and do some tests.

According to OneBook/One Caliber, I saw that a max load was 44.3 of RL15 for the 168 a-max. If I reduced by a recommended 3% using mil-brass(lake city), which would have given a new max of 43 gr to work up to. The same book lists on a different page for the same bullet a max load of 42gr for RL-15??! which would have my new max for mil-surp brass at 40.75...thats a big difference. The Speer Book that came with my reloading kit (printedApr2013) says max charge of RL-15 is 45gr. Can I interchange loads for the same bullet wt. but different brand? Is a smk168bthp interchangeable with a speer 168bthp?

So I am trying to do my homework by seeing if there is anyone else out there with a similar set up and just wondering what loads anyone else was using with mil-surp brass. ??
