The embedded links are (at least nowdays) for web site builders. As far as I know the forum code and browser (in HTML5) work together to fetch and show video from the plain link.

You should check this too if that was inspirational, much more hands-on and practical. And the dude has lots of good knowledge. (I am not qualified to rate his knowledge but he certainly seems to know what he is talking about)
