US Army contract USZA92-02-M-0008. Quick Cuff Model M24 US Military Precision Rifle Sling provided by TIS (Tactical Intervention Specialists) with Talon military grade swivels.

Is there any reason to believe that TIS, or any other third party, would remove the Talon swivels and replace them with Uncle Mikes? Not arguing, just posting some information I got. Everything I see says its the newest sling included in the kit... I believe the sling I have might be the earlier TIS-M24 version?

No they would not replace the swivels, the UM swivles are for use with the issue sling, NSN 1005-00-714-1245, which is the M1907 type leather sling.

It is odd that the TIS M24 sling is not part of the accessory kit circa 2003 if it in fact is the issue sling for the M24, more likely and upgrade to the 1907 and ordered/issued at the unit level maybe?

That's a possibility. My buddy ordered a 'replacement sling' through the standard Maintenance Request channel. They came up with NSN 1005-01-567-4936 (which he thought was the leather sling, no need to mention it), and that's what he got. He gave it to me since he prefers the leather sling. Along with his old deployment kit, missing 50% of the stuff.

Note the "thumb screw" screws out to release.
Screwed in provides a nice lock.

Looked on HS site, I cannot tell what model number this stock is it's for a remington 700 Short action, anyone know? The recoil pad looks thicker then most of the stocks recoil pads, maybe after market? Thank you!







 
This is the stock that was for sale on Canadian Gun Nutz right?

It is a PST-006 with adjustable LOP. Rem 700 Short action for standard BDL floorplate. Dakota bottom metal doesnt fit. (PST-024 model for Dakota).

That's a short action stock with HS floormetal and 10 round mag, probably first gen floormetal judging by the mag
 
The recoil pad is probably stock H-S Precision. All of them are thick EXCEPT the ones that were made for Remington and the M24. Even the PST-024 long action stock will have the thick pad. The thinner pad is a Remington M24 exclusive.

Just a few comments. Those kind of swivels will pull apart if you sling up real tight and shoot. Most of the milspec ones now have that wire loop solid to prevent that. I have carried spare ammo for .308/06 for years in 5 round stripper clips. They don't rattle or take up much room and come out easy. The only issue is that you need to use the 5 rounds, or you have some loose rounds. You can get the M14 repack kits pretty reasonable and they come with 12 stripper clips and a bandoleer to carry them in.
Also, those front and rear sight bases come in different thicknesses and heights, so you can adjust your sight to get a good cheek weld. I am not sure what the M24 used, but I know the military had different sizes, for the shooters to use.

Is it the same as the M24 stock except thicker recoil pad and short action?
 
Same as the M24 stock? Yes and No, only the adjustable LOP feature is the same as the M24 stock.
It is similar however the short action stock will not fit either of the floor metal /detachable mag assemblies used on the M24 as it is long action.
 
For those who owns, or have used the M24 (or any adjustable LOP HS stock equipped rifle) in the field, is it common for the adjustable LOP mechanism to get loose?

Its moving slightly up and down, maybe 1/4", on my rifle. Not a big deal, but I'm afraid it might get worse. Or affect my groupings. As I can feel it move on my shoulder when I take aim.

Kinda hard to explain, but the hole around the screw-thingy is a bit larger.. Normal wear I guess. Is there any way I can change the plate thats glued to the stock??
 
My issued M-24 did not move much at all. It was beat to hell when I got it in 04 but did not ever loosen up.
 
Mine wiggles slightly back and forth no matter how tite the locking ring is.

Look at the "thick wheel" used for adjusting buttstock LOP

It has 2 holes machined through it

When both holes are positioned vertically, they expose 2 Allen head bolts which secure the front plate to the buttstock

Insert a 1/8" Allen wrench into each hole and tighten the bolts
 
Of course they have to be discontinued. Well the search begins to find them. Im interested in 2 sets of these if anyone has a lead on them or know where I can get them at.

Is there a difference between the two? Ive looked on Leupold site and didn't see 50039 but saw 59230 which looks like the issued ones. Can anyone help out with this?
 
would the Leupold rifleman 2pc be a good alternative to the mark 4 base?

No... I mean, any base can be an alternative. But a Mark 4 is a Mark 4. They are steel, Rifleman aluminum. And they dont look the same at all.

A 10$ base cant be an alternative to a 180$ base.. Not in the same ballpark.
 
Has anyone heard about the M2010? Im interested in a build. Does anyone have any specs on this rifle? I have spent the day looking it up and haven't came up with much. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
 
Can anyone recommend a smith to drill and tap the receiver and barrel for the iron sight mounts? I also need the proper engraving done. I have a barreled action coming from Greg at SPR, and he's not set up for unique projects like this. I sent an email to GAP, but no response yet. They're probably pretty backed up.
 
Nothing preceded the M24 for the US Army that was a purpose built sniper rifle, the XM2010, later M2010 and now known as the M24E1 is a system reconfiguration. All the M24s were or are being turned in to Remington for upgrade. The receiver is the only part that carries over to the new weapon. It's .300 WinMag and it uses a new aluminum chassis, a AAC Titan sound suppressor, the new Leupold MKIV ERT 6.5-20x w/ H-58 Reticle. That's essentially it. I have the detailed spec sheet on the upgrade if you would like it, pm me with an email address.

Building a clone is going to set you back some mighty big bucks. The scope alone is almost $3,800. I think the stocks are nearly $5,000 too.

edosix, when did you get your M24? The SN on the scope on the one I just got from Remington is only two off yours. Also, anyone know where I can get an ARD for the M3A?
