Movie Theater Atlas Shrugged Part II official Trailer

Re: Atlas Shrugged Part II official Trailer

Yep, popular ideological books don't always translate well into movies. On top of that, think of how many books are made into films and are successful? It's not a given.

Re: Atlas Shrugged Part II official Trailer

Just watched the DVD of the first part of the series...

Actually, I enjoyed it. Very timely in so many ways. Going to see the next installment this weekend.

Read the book in high school, but sort of struggled with it. Did not like Ayn Rand's writing style. I don't remember the ideas resonating with me, then, yet the book today is today considered the 'libertarian classic.' I think I am going to re-read, though... see if I enjoy it more.

The movie reminded me a bit of Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy... a lot of thinking had to go on to follow a complex plot. It required concentration vs. being purely entertaining. And I bet that as a movie, the various threads do not fully make sense until well into the second installment... or the third part of what I think is supposed to be a trilogy.

But some of the lines and themes are so current as to just be eerie.

I'll let folks know after seeing part II. But so far, I am hooked.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I just saw this movie tonight.

I think the producers are doing a FINE job translating the book into a movie.

Obviously, the "draw" of this movie is not special effects and cinemetography...but nonetheless, I'd say it has improved for Part II, in comparison to Part I.

They definitely added a few tidbits of "pop culture" to make the story apply to today's state of affairs even more. For example, referring to appointed people of power as "Czars".

A bunch of us went and saw part II yesterday.
I would say part II is a lot better done than part 1 and they made a pretty good effort to make it more entertaining and a bit less preachy while also making it even more tailored to today's world.

Definately worth the watching.
