I bought a V2 auto trickle from a buddy getting out of reloading. I love this thing! It’s fast and super reliable. Up until last night I’ve only used larger grain powders in it. I bought some CFE-223 to run some plinking rds (.223). The Auto trickle did not like this type powder, if was dropping pieces out of the side of the powder thrower. I tried adjusting the tension with no luck.

My question is, what are your thoughts on the V3 upgrade? Is it better with powder like this? Am I better off leaving as is and just buying a charge master for this type powder as well as pistol cartridges. I understand this set up is more for rifle loads but I now Have 5 pounds of powder that I can’t use until I figure something out. I’ve added a picture below of where the powder is coming from.Thank you all for your help!

As you found out the v2 does not play well with ball powders, its one real negative in my opinion.
Though mine has always just siezed the thrower up a jammed in 7 throws or so, I guess I had mine tight enough that it couldnt work all the way out to leak like yours. For ball powders you can use the trickler only which isnt the worst in the world as it goes pretty quick still for me and the small blackout cartridges I use ball powder for. If its a larger case then a little scoop first before you put the cup back on the scale and it will trickle it to finish.

The v3 fixes the issue entirely.

What are you gaining by running a powder that can be thrown in a regular powder measure with excellent results and blinding speed over running it in your expensive and precise V2 that excels with stick powders?

Never used a regular powder measure. I had a chargemaster 1500 and now this. If that is a good option I’m down for getting one.. it would be much cheaper too!
