Our annual family antelope hunt well this past weekend. We had perfect weather, lots of antelope to look at and made good shots on everything we shot at and put some great eating meat in the freezer!

I used the .338 LM on this buck. My shot was 723 meters, broadside with a 3 to 4mph crosswind ( 3.9 mls, held off .3) 250gr scenar at 3100fps. 16" long with 7+" prongs 84 B&C gross. One my better bucks.

Shane and Logan pose with mom's "eater buck". She shot it with the GAP Surgeon .308 at 560 meters. 155gr scenar at 2950fps. She made a perfect heart shot on it from the bluff in the background. You can see the entry just above the scope bell.

Logan holding up mom's doe she shot at 498 meters with the .308 again.

A big thanks goes out to the crew at GA precision for building these two fine shooting rifles for us!!!

Re: B&C Antelope

Thanks Nick...I saved a special one for you....2010. So what about that 180" corn fed Iowa Whitetail you've been chasing...any close encounters? Trail cam pics? etc....

Re: B&C Antelope

No, non of the above. He is in kind of a wierd location and tough to get in on. And you know those old deer have a way of just disapearing... Alot of season left. spotted another good one on another farm too.
I live for this time of year!

Hi Pat
Just came across your pics. Your a great dad! I know how much that hunt must have meant to you and your family. I am going through hunting withdrawls looking at all your fun. Nice buck BTW. Can't wait to shoot again with you. Use the 300 gr on your elk. Good luck.

Our little guys a few years back with their mom's antelope.

Copper, Thanks and keep taking them....both your boy and your dad. My boys never got to hunt with their grampa...but they hear about him from me a lot...he opened all the doors to my lifetime spent in the outdoors.

Re: B&C Antelope

Greg,

When I'm guiding I'm usually watching the shot through a spotting scope so I can cover my ears. The .338LM is my only rifle with a brake on it so I'm still training myself to put in ear plugs before I shoot....this last antelope I almost forgot and had to crawl back to my drag bag that was about 25 feet behind me, dig them out and crawl back and shoot...I might try a pair of those E-phones.

As for the boys, they always have phones on before they shoot or I shoot..... any firearm including rimfires. My ears has soaked up many thousands of rounds of un- sheilded gunshots over the years and I'm paying for it now. Wish I could do a lot of that over again....I would have taken better care of my ears.

Re: B&C Antelope

The reason I ask is that I would really like to put a brake on my rifle but don't have a good plan for hearing protection while hunting. Hearing is so important when hunting in tight cover and I have heard mixed reviews on some of the electronic muffs. Just wondered.
