Left the cabin in SW Ontario at 0500 yesterday morning and pulled into the drive at 2330 last night. Had a great time and got my batteries charged up to get me through another year. The weather was very warm which meant the bugs were thick and the fishing slower than colder years but I have no complaints (other than being covered from head to toe with mosquito and black fly bites).
This is my 8th year and we usually fish four lakes which have lake trout and northern pike. This year we made a 1/2 mile portage through a swamp to get to a new (to us) lake for some walleye and it was well worth it. Found out the new lake also holds beautiful smallmouth so we're up to four species to chase while we're there.
Yes they are cheater pics but they were nice fish anyway. Didn't get a scale on the smallmouth but the walleye was 6lb 4oz, the lake trout was around 7lb and the pike around 9lb. If you've never been to Ontario to wet a line I highly recommend it!
