Hello All. I am shopping for an exterior Ballistic program. I found and downloaded BalCal 6.2. I'm having install problems. After install I start the program and then attempt to start a sub program, a Run Time Error occurs. Running Windows Vista OS. I have attempted to contact the creator but his email address is bad. Any ideas. Thanks.

Re: Ballistic Programs

Mike1885, have you tried doing "run as"? You should be able to right-click on the program's icon and select "run as" and "Windows XP." Maybe that will fix it for you.

Have you seen any PC software with matching PDA software. I would like to avoid bringing the PC to the range due to the dusty environment!

I think LoadBase 3.0 has a program for both...

I use the atragMX with their PDA. It is a good program that I have never had a problem with. It is easy to use. My favorite thing about this PDA is printable range cards. You can put in whatever atmospherics you want and it gives you the option to print the range card. Shooting buddies of mine just punch in their info and print out range cards.

What is the PDA that you got from them, my MX installed on an HP IPAQ 3715 won't allow printing of info, unless I am missing something.

BTW Horus and Palm are oil and water, There were problems locking up the PDA constantly.

Re: Ballistic Programs

I have both Ballistic FTE and KAC Bulletflight on my iphone. I liked Ballistic better for a while, but I'm migrating back to Bulletflight more and more for the ease of use. I like the ability to type in a specific range (yds or M) and have it calc that instead of interpolating off of a huge chart like Ballistic forces you to do.

Uhh, I'm looking right now and can find nowhere that a <span style="font-style: italic">single </span>shot range can be input like 644 yds or 505 meters, etc. All I can find on the "trajectory" tab is the max range and the range increments for it to build the ballistic table. And on the HUD, it only has a scroll bar to select the range you want the ballistic calcs for. If its there, I can't find the input field.....

Its also not easy to switch back and forth between yds and m. I think I have to go into the default settings to change the output.

Re: Ballistic Programs

ReaperDriver

I just was in Ballistics also. Added 1000 yards as my max range with a 1 yard increment. Got every single adjustment needed for each out to 1K. May not be as easy as other programs. I took your earlier reply above as you were not able to find the data for any specific range. It may be different but, I don't see an issue. I'd send a picture but, it is rather long!

HUD does not have this feature from what I found.

No worries. I figured out that trick long ago to put in smaller increments to find the specific range. but it still spits out a table with 1000 data points. All I was saying is you can't just input a specific # and get ONE ballistic calc for that range like you can in Bulletflight. In addition BF, allows you to input yds OR meters on the spot. In ballistic, I believe you would have to go into the default settings to change from yd to meters in the output.

I use the green one that they call rugged PDA on the horus vision website. It has a cable on the bottom that I use to download range cards onto my computer and then print.
