Hi folks

Does anyone have a B&C 6560 Weatherby Vanguard/Howa 1500 Varmint/Tactical Stock?

If so, please tell me your opinions about it and if possible post some pics. The pic above is the only one I caould find and I would like to know how it looks on a rifle.

Regards Chili

Re: Bell and Carlson 6560

cant help you on the set up for the howa but I have 2) A5's and a buddy has the A2 on 700's and i love mine, however he wishes he would have went with the A5 for the adaptability. I would still go A2 for a hunting rig tho.. just my .02

Re: Bell and Carlson 6560

Sure thing, Midway says it should be here on Thursday. My 1500 came in a Hogue stock which isn't the worst in the world but it's pretty flexible and contacts the rifle in several places it shouldn't. I got tired of sanding on it and finally just ordered the 6560.

From what I can tell it looks pretty similar to an H&S precision / 700P type stock but perhaps a little more vertical and a slightly higher comb. I'm a big fan of that style of stock and hope it meets my expectations. I came across this thread searching for information about it but nobody seems to have one on a rifle yet that wants to post about it.

Sorry it took so long. I've been shooting my A2 for a week now, and I've been all smiles about it. If the 6560 is as equally crafted as the A2 is, you won't be disappointed. Great budget stock.

Hi

Thanks to both of you.
The medalist series with the aluminium bedding block always have good reviews. I don't know why the 6560 is so "unpopular". Is it too new? Does really noone have one?

I'm looking forward to your impressions and some pics dareposte.
Thanks in advance.

I would bet that it's more or less just the fact that the 6560 is a pretty popular styled stock (Just with a little more tactical look). Boyd's has stocks that look very similar in fashionable laminates for $97 with many inlets. The 6560 looks to me to be sort of the inbred child of a sporter stock and a tactical stock, and there's a much bigger calling for one or the other.

I'm sure you'll like it just the same.

Re: Bell and Carlson 6560

I got my 6560 in today, it's a pretty decent stock. It's inletted for a varmint barrel channel, has the advertised "straight comb", and a monte-carlo style cheek rest on the side you don't see in all the pictures. I wasn't expecting that but its pretty comfy.

The stock is rigid and the bedding block is solid as in all medalists.

In comparing this stock, it's almost like a Duramax stock in size and weight but has the slightly raised cheek rest and the aluminum bedding block.

It's definitely an upgrade from the hogue stock on my howa .223, and is lighter than the A2 style b&c I have.
