Gents, maybe I am missing something but recently dropped a 700 in a B/C tactical stock. Im now wanting to add a shim or two in front of the reciol pad and can seem to get it off.

I removed 2 screws from the pad/stock and it wont even wobble. I am assuming it is glued in? or did I miss something like a third screw maybe? I have done this several times w/ no problem on other stocks but this is my first run at B/C.

I looked over the web page and google searched every combination of these terms and have come up blank. Any help?

Re: Bell and Carlson recoil pad removal

Yes it is glued on. I removed the screws and then scored between the pad and stock all the way around with a box cutter. I then used a wide box cutter blade as sort of a chisle/wedge, starting at the top and tapped it down to seperate the pad from the stock. Take your time and dont force anything and you will be able to work the two apart.

One thing is for sure, they make it to were it will not come off easy. Good Luck, I had to see a anger management specialist after removing mine.

Re: Bell and Carlson recoil pad removal

Before I removed mine I called Bell and Carlson to see what their suggestions was. They recommended placing the stock into a freezer overnight before trying to remove it.

Since my freezer wasn't big enough (unless I removed all of the food), I removed it like described above. It worked ok, but I did have a few chunks of material come off with the pad. Nothing a little epoxy couldn't fix though.
