Searched 'til I'm blue in the face. Read reviews, forums, you name it. IWI obviously uses a 9mm ASC Colt style magazine and supposedly Colt used to use one too but switched back to Metalform due to problems (which may or may not be a problem for the Tavor?). From the reviews and forums it's hard to tell if ASC or Metalform works better in the Tavor but it seems the overall consensus leans towards the Metalform mags being better.

Metalform uses a metal follower it seems and appears to be a higher quality mag they say. But if it doesn't function or hold the bolt back in the Tavor maybe it isn't the best for it. Others say the ASC mag is junk and will spit out the last few rounds and has other issues (they only say this about the 9mm mag, I have several ASC SS Grendel and aluminum GI and they're great).

So I figured I'd hold off and wait and see if any of you guys have one of these and can weigh in.

Well, FWIW talked to IWI and the consensus is that the ASC mags are GTG in this weapon. Don't know about the others, but from what I can tell others have problems with LRBHO and some feeding issues in these rifles. It seems not all Colt mags are made the same and what works in one platform doesn't necessarily work in the next. So I'll get ten and try 'em out. If they work I'll get more, at the deal I get 'em for I can't complain.

Funny, IWI didn't know ASC made their mags? Just claimed they had an IWI floorplate... But images online prove the mag is a rebranded ASC. And based on the price it sorta has to be because if IWI made their own mags they'd cost a lot more just due to lack of volume, but contracting a Colt style mag is a different story.

Well, I got to check out the rifle and it came with one mag. It says IWI on the floorplate but it's obviously ASC (it's SS with the orange follower). It would operate the bho when drawn back on an empty mag.

They look as good and solid as the 6.5G mags I have, same SS, a bit heavy but solid and well made. I got ten of these 32rd mags, maybe should've ordered more but I wanted some FDE 20 or 25rd mags if I can find 'em.

They're solid and they are the factory mags so I should be good. We'll see next week, hopefully I can pick it up by then. Sorta excited to try it out and finally be able to use this Mepro MOR sight on the weapon it was designed for. Got the Geissele trigger bow but can't find the trigger anywhere, and I scored a Sico 1/2-36 ASR mount for the Omega 9k. Almost GTG.

Anyone know where to get one of those Geissele Tavor trigger packs? Can't find 'em anywhere.

FWIW... I have seen Colt use both the ASC and Metalform mags.

My Colt pattern PSA works perfect with Metalforms or Brownells ( rebranded Metalforms with a slick sprayed on coating / finish )...

HOWEVER.. if you buy Metalforms... BE SURE to clean the rust inhibitor / packing oil off the follower and out of the inside of the mag body.... failure to do so will result in sluggish performance.

The Brownells, with their slick coating do not require cleaning inside.

ASC's are not as cooperative for my PSA Colt Pattern ( mag insert )

I should mention, the gauge steel used in the Metalforms is heavier then the ASC's... the Metalforms are built more like a '70's pickup, while the ASC's feel like a thin paneled modern pickup.

Sorry I can't help with input concerning the BHO and the various mags on your Tavor.

And if you are a chrono data nut... here is data for 129 different factory loads from my 16" 9x19. NOTE how quite a few 147gr loads were SS from the 16" barrel. ( sorry about some of the pics being gone )

Hey, at least someone makes them, I remember guys modding Uzi mags, and using goofy mag blocks back in the day. I used to have some Colt style mags, I'll look and see if I still have them. If I do I can't find them, I think they were C-Products, but I can't remember for sure.

I have 6 ASC mags for my 10.5" 9mm upper. With a removable mag block and all the whole system is 100% reliable.

They seem like rather nice mags, much easier to load for example than whatever other Colt mags I used in someone else's Colt gun years ago, which wasn't very reliable. Followers seem to be a good quality plastic, wipe clean easily, etc. etc.

I picked up another 15 20 rounders after checking out the factory mag that came with it. The ASC mags ain't bad looking in 9mm, similar to the 6.5G mags in apparent quality and those are nice.

I'd like to try the Metalform, everyone says it's better, perhaps when they get 'em back in stock I'll order one along with some FDE ASC's and give it a try. If it'll reliably hold the bolt back then I guess I'd probably get some of those too.

Maybe one day I'll decide to convert one of these lowers into a 9mm setup and have a use for more/other mags too. Running out of things to do to an AR anyway.

Can't wait to pick this thing up, still waiting on WA and that stupid law they passed... Fucker's been here since the end of Feb. Ink wasn't dry on this last piece of shit legislation and now they've got ten more up for vote.
