I've been reading various posts on this specific forum to try and educate myself on doing a class III style weapon build. I'm contemplating whether or not the hassle is worth it, but I've always wanted a suppressed SBR and this may be the last time for a while that I'll be able to afford getting one.
My end state is a 10-11" SBR on piston AR, whether I get an SBR or put it together piecemeal. Then I'll get an AR suppressor for it. I am a resident in North Carolina so I've read the issues regarding getting the sheriff's signature versus the trust. I feel like I know more about the process itself after reading that long thread, but neither option seemed very straightforward. I was also what happened when I move out of NC and take my class III weapon with me.
So here are my questions: is it best to buy a complete SBR and wait on the transfer itself? Or should I put it together piecemeal and register it while I'm working on it? Are there issues with moving from state to state with class III weapons? Since the legalities with both an SBR and a suppressor are somewhat confusing, I'd love to get your input on this. Thanks for your help.
