Best Sling for A4-A5 stocks

Re: Best Sling for A4-A5 stocks

TAB gear makes probably one of the better or best slings out right now for A4/A5 stocks. The stiffiner that he puts in the rear is great as well.

Re: Best Sling for A4-A5 stocks

TAB biathlon sling works well for "front-heavy" thick barreled rifles. Otherwise, I find it difficult to carry my rifle barrel up with other simple double point slings.

Majority seem to say TAB... and I have to agree

Re: Best Sling for A4-A5 stocks

I have a TIS, Turner and TABs, the TAB sling is IMHO the easiest to use, get in and out of, the velcro on the TIS is PIA, the Turner is a dam good sling, but the I my favorite is the TAB.

Re: Best Sling for A4-A5 stocks

The TAB slings seem really great, but I dislike the way they sew down the ends, so the attachment hardware is "permanent." I know, the hardware will probably never break or need replacement, and I probably won't be changing attachment types often enough to necessitate worrying about it, but I just *like* the option of being able to change out the attachment hardware if I needed or wanted to. Also, I know TAB offers "open" end pieces, but for an added cost, and for the price of their slings, I would think they would integrate this feature as is.

I have one of the TIS slip cuff quick release slings. Very adjustable, easy to get into and out of the cuff, especially with the use of the buckle, and can be used for carry, hasty or cuff sling real easily. Plus I can swap out push-button or HK-style hook swivels no problem. I only wish they included a couple of elastic keepers like they do with their other slings, especially with the rear portion, as it is VERY long there (I have to overlap the rear portion webbing five or six times after I have it adjusted to my liking).

bro, you dont have to spend more for the open end TAB sling, I just got mine in from triad for 55$ (I already had flush cup swivels so I just ordered a sling w/ no attachment method).

I run a VTAC, with side mounted flush cups.

kft101, I'm not sure where you're getting your facts, but the sling with no swivels is the cheapest sling we make that has buckles and the stiff section at the rear.

I like the swivels sewn into the rear, as do about 99.9% of the shooters who have rifles with swivels, since this is the first time I've heard of anyone not liking the swivels sewn in.

The slings that have no swivels sewn in are primarily made for rifles that have the loops as hard points on rifles, like AR type rifles. Guys like you though who want to change out swivels would want to buy this sling and then you'd be able to install your own swivels.

We also sell conversion kits to those who like the swivels sewn in to the tail of the sling and want to change out swivels.

Whoops, I stand corrected.

I'll have to give the no-swivel sling a try.

KTF, if you have a Slip Cuff without elastic keepers you have one of the new ones with rapid rear adjustments? The older ones all had the elastic keepers. The new one has a stiffened cuff. Some come with Quick Release Buckles some dont. I left the elastic off that model so you could make one handed adjustments. If you want elastic keepers just PM an address and I will send a couple right out.

As to swivels sewn in. I did that for awhile, 1995-1999, but when I started selling lots to US Military they requested I no longer sew swivels into the slings so they could easily change the slings between rifles. This way one rifle sling fits, SPR,DMR, M40A3, M40A5, M24,MK11, MK13 and M110. Since the material does not slip out easily it is not a problem to not sew them shut. The swivels wont fall off and one sling fits many rifles.

The other reason is the Quick and Slip Cuffs are also designed so you can unhook from middle section and make the rear a long strap for Patrol Carry of the weapon. That is why the rear strap is long. This allows you to have most of the rifle's weight on shoulders while you carry the weapon in your hands. It makes a difference if you carry the rifle long distances.

Everyone likes different things that is why there are so many brands and types.
