Guys i was wandering how you have painted a fluted barrel to get a two tone effect. My barrel is fluted and has an egraving on the top. i want to paint a blak barrel and od flutes and engraving. I trind sprying it with od, and then filling all of the flutes/engrav with a putty like playdoh, and then spray with bleck but dident work so well. I can prob tape the flutes off but not the engraving ?

whats the best way ?

For the flutes, Lay down the base coat (black) then take blue painter tape and cover the barrel, Find a ball bearing or marble and run it on the flutes. This should give you a nice crisp line on where the flutes and barrel meet.

As for the engraving, that may be a little tougher. I would try spraying some OD paint on a piece of glass or something and taking a toothpick to paint the engraving. Depend on how big it is. OR you could try the painters tape Idea over the engraving.
