Undoubtedly this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it anywhere (is there even a 'rifle setup' forum?).

On a rifle with a sliding rail (Blaser Tactical 2 in my case), where would you ideally mount the bipod? Should it be placed all the way forward to increase stability, closer to the rear of the rifle to better distribute it's weight, or somewhere else to attain the proper height (the rail is mounted diagonally in the stock)?

Any help is appreciated...

Most people place it as far forward as possible.
However, if it works better for you further back (ie: you are getting better results, or easier results), then place it there.

On that particular rifle it only depends on what's the most comfortable for you and what yields the best results. On some rifles, having it all the way forward can cause the stock to touch the barrel during firing which can affect accuracy. I've had it happen with a Steyr SSG.
