Bolt Bounce

This probably a shut up and train kind of issue, but I wanted to ask for opinions none the less.

I was out at the range today dry firing at 100yds and noticed my cross hairs were shifting ever so slightly as the firing pin went forward. More than likely this has to do with something I'm doing wrong building my firing position.

However I noticed that my bolt seemed to bounce quite a bit while dry firing. Here's a video to illustrate. (Sorry it is sideways)



Thoughts? Think there is any connection with the reticle shift and this bolt movement or just my crappy position?

ETA: Remy 700VS, using a bipod and rear bag

There's no round in there to keep tension on it. Put a piece of once fired brass in there and then watch.

Yup, that was it. I put a dummy round in an lo and behold. No bounce. Wish I had thought to try that at the range.

And if you buy the proper snap-cap for your caliber, the cross hair vibration will also disappear...

As above, all bolts have some free play without a round in the chamber. If you can bag in your rifle very solidly and pull the trigger like some of the benchrest guys (not touching the stock, just finger on trigger), you shouldn't see any reticle shift. If you see significant movement, check your scope mounting and your action bedding,

Well I know I'm having some mounting issues. My group shifted right all of a sudden and I'm thinking "wtf?". I have just the cheap leupold rings and mount on the rifle and realized that the windage screw had come loose.

I know what I'm saving up for here pretty quick...
