Suppressors Boring out an aac mini4 into a 308...

I am thinking about boring my aac mini 4 into a 308. Few questions:

Are there any legal issues?

What company would y’all recommend? I assume any firearm machine shop?

How much louder would it be when attached to a 223?

How effective will it be on a 300 b/o with subs?

I understand that it will not be ultra quiet but I just want to use it as a 300/308 moderator so I’m not completely deaf while hunting. I’d like to not destroy its 223 suppression capability.

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and don't don't do it. ATF has ruled it a no-no. As an individual you can not repair a can, only gunsmiths and manufactures. They can modify it but are not allowed to increase length or caliber or replace tube (serialized part). ATF NFA FAQ's and a Q&A session from small arms review covered the tech branch ruling on this. If you do ignore my advice, don't tell everybody on the internet......

That's interesting, NFA shit never ceases to amaze me. Just when you think you knew it all already...

If you're in WA, I'll take that can off your hands if it's 51T and you can go buy a proper can. I have a couple 556SD's but would one a bit shorter for an SBR.

If you really want a good shorty .308 can for hunting, I have the TBAC .30 Ultra 5 and it's a bad motherfucker, it's not a moderator though it only adds 4.3" or so to the length of the rifle and almost no weight, the damn thing is technically a suppressor! It measures in right at the line between suppressor and moderator, meaning it's hearing safe, but just barely. I love the thing and use it as much, maybe more, than the 9" ones.

I'm not so sure you'd gain much, if any, performance from boring out a short AAC can. That's my guess though based on owning a few.

Again, if in WA hit me up and I'll take that can off your hands if you want.
