No. If the union isn't good for you, hold a meeting and vote it out of your place of business, I'm sure your employer would by the donuts. If the union is good to you, and you say it is net good to you, then it's your obligation to care, and not afford yourself the luxury of not caring as you say about the union management ("Nor do we care.") If you don't do something it certainly won't be there for your kids, and maybe not for you, depending how old you are. The union movement in the USA is currently in its death throws, like a dying fish gasping on the beach, beaten back by big business and populated by lots of people who don't care to fix it, so the workers get what they get, which is a continual reduction in benefits, sold out by the union management and squeezed by the business.
