I have a Ruger Hawkeye in a .270 win that i'm seriously thinking of building a different caliber out of. I have three .270's and two of them are tack drivers and i could care less about touching them.

I'm looking to rebarrel it in a screamer for coyote's. With the long action was looking into the 25-06 or .220 swift . I have googled this in several ways and cannot find much on a ruger build. Does anyone have any advice on a barrel and what would be involver in doing this?

Thanks,
Brandon

Dude, you came to the wrong place to talk about Rugers....I learned that I long time ago. For what its worth I have a Ruger MKII in 25-06 and I'm sure that it would be nice on yotes as long as you aren't trying to save pelts. Good luck on your quest for knowledge but I doubt if your gonna get much love here.

+1, I also have a Ruger 25-06. And I was lucky to get one that shoots exceptionally well.(in the .3's and.4's)
You wont find alot of info about building anything out of a Ruger, It doesn't have the huge following of builds like other platforms. I assume its because of its finiky quirks (diagonal bolt, integral ring bases, ect.) But I am sure that they are capable of very good accuracy because mine is, and its almost bone stock.

lol, never hurts to try....

was just looking for something to build it into for better accuracy. I also have have an older M77 in .270 that shoots .5 MOA with handloads as long as i do my part but the hawkeye is a little better than MOA so was looking to do something with it.

Thanks for the replies

I have a Rock Creek barrel coming for my 300 win mag. I just can't decide on XLR industries or Accurate Innovations for a stock. As far as the builder only Center Shot Rifles seemed interested being a lowly Ruger and all. Lol
