bulky fast powder alternative to Trail Boss?

Is there a less dirty powder that will work for .308 subs other then Trail Boss??

VV Tin Star is direct competition to Trail Boss and VV powders have a rep for clean burn.

That said, I have never even loaded a sub-sonic .308 (on purpose anyway) so I have no idea if Tin Star will work or not...

Titegroup is VERY LOW VOLUME Powder. With LOW CHARGE WEIGHTS. Not even in the same league volume wise as Trail Boss. Tin Star is the best similar powder, but is not readily found.

No pistol powders are readily found right now, Recobs is where I bought mine a few months ago, but they are out right now.

I wish I had bought more...

Fill the case to where the bullet would seat, 70% of that number is where you should started so hypothetically if you have 100grs in the case at about where the neck and shoulder meet you'll start at 70grs. With a chronograph you'll determine if you need to go up or down in case volume.

I don't have any experience with jacketed subsonic .308Win loads. BUT if I were to want to experiment I would start with Unique powder. It's fairly bulky but also very flexible and not too spiky. I have used it to shoot cast bullets from my .308Win, 30-30, etc and it works very well in those applications.

Last I checked, unfortunately I dropped off the earth online last year and barely made it back to hear much less BOTL. I barely smoke once a week most months but I make ammo almost daily [emoji1]

he threw me out a long long time ago cause I wouldn't kiss his ass like all too many of them that went with him when he started that place... Same here, but i do get a cigar or two in during outdoor range days..
