Been working up a load for my 5r and I’m looking for bullet recommendations for anyone that has the R700 5r 22” 6.5. I’ve been using ELD-X 143g and adjusting off the lands and I don’t think my rifle likes the bullets. If you’re wondering why I started with ELD-Xs, my RPR LOVES them and I had a bunch on hand.

Let me know what other bullets to try before I buy every damn thing out there.

Also, if you have a load work up post it. Right now I’m settling around 42g of 100V which gets me a velocity of ~2700 with my last 5 round (SD 9.5 and ES 15).

42.0g of Hybrid 100V, Hornady brass, Winchester LR Magnum Primer, 2.200 ogive (0.050 off lands), trim to 1.915, 143g ELD-X

Thx, Joe

I run Lapua 139 and 136 grain bullets at 0.02” from lands.

My load workup is always at 0.020” jump.

They are jump insensitive so I do not worry after load workup for bullet seating depth.

I also do not have to chase the lands as throat wears...just check for erosion every 250 rounds.

try a Hornady 140gr bullet over 40.6gr of H4350. Load it to 2.8 OAL. That load usually shoots good in any 6.5 rifle I put it through.

I’m picking up some 4350 this weekend. So I’ll guve that a try. Thx

Ditch the magnum primer

Stop chasing lands

All my LGS had was the Winchester magnums, wasn’t even my last choice. As for lands, not chasing... I know what my max is and what fits in my magazine and works for this bullet... at least I think.
