I've posted this video up a number of times for Hide Members regarding how I like to approach my Bullet Seating for various rounds.

Bullet Seating Depth Method - YouTube

One of our Members, Gunnysgt from ME contacted me regarding a issue he was having. I'd like to pass it on for other input due to exhausting my limited knowledge and deductive reasoning as to why this is happening.

After stripping the bolt of his .223 or.243 Weatherby VanGuard and then replacing it in the rifle the bolt of course drops like a sack of spuds. After chambering a new case of Nosler, Lapua, and Norma his bolt will not drop all the way shut as it should prior to adding a bullet to continue this methodology. I've not come across this dilemma with a number of different rifle makes.

I suggested ensuring the chamber was clean and clear of any obstructions which he did to no avail. He informed me he was told it may be the ejector on the bolt face. I'm unfamiliar with the VanGuard so I'll leave it up to the collective reasoning hopefully of the rest of the Hide. With the bolt stripped it doesn't make any sense to "me" that the ejector would have any detrimental effect on the bolt dropping.

Does a tight factory 'SAAMI' spec chamber even enter the equation ?

I shall direct him to this thread. Thank You

I spoke with a Bob White from Shooters Corner | Benchrest & Varmint Rifles. Check his website out.......huge list of used and new benchrest and varmint rifles. I got my 6ppc from him some years ago.
Anyway, in speaking with him, he stated "why is this problem a concern?" Just go ahead and find your jam and go from there. It should not make any difference if the bolt drops all by itself or requires a bit of help just as long as you don't have to really force it. It still remains a question why it does this just the same. Thanks Larry for the help. Be talking to you later.
