I am building a new AR that I indend to use mainly for target/varmint out to 300yds using a 18" Rifle Length Gas DPMS Mark 12 Barrel. I am trying to figure out what to use for a scope. At first I was wanting to try a 1-4 Viper PST but after looking through a friends scope at 9 power think it may be too little magnification. That has me thinking either a Super Sniper 3-9 FFP or the above Bushnell.

I have a SS 10X HD on my 308 but would like a variable most likely on the AR. I can get the SS for $600 w/ mount when the redisgned one is available or the Bushnell for $586 w/o mount. The Bushnell is the FFP model and that price is using my dealer discount. Considering the cheapest I can find it anywhere else is $750ish I think it is worth considering.

Does anyone have any experience with this scope? I am mainly concerned about durability/repeatability and then glass as this is my last scope purchase for a looooonnnng time due to saving to pay down the house and want to spend my money wisely. How is the glass compared to the SS(either variable or HD)?

Thanks

Thanks for the link and I have read it before and it was very informative. I am interested in finding out about tracking repeatablity as well as how well it stands up to hard use.

I've recently read from SWFA that apparently a higher magnification variable is in the works.

I too have the 3-9x and I really dig it. Currently it's on my Cooper Phoenix in 20 Tac, but as soon as I get one of those Smith Enterprises Crazy Horse Rifles, that's where it's being moved.

The 2 things that are holding me back are the approx 20 mils total elevation, which should be fine in most cases, and I'd also prefer half mil marks in the reticle but hey for a $600 scope there's not much to complain about especially if it tracks good.

I still might get one.???

I kind of like the fixed 10
4 / 6 power not enough for me
with the variables i find (Wile E. Coyote)
at about an 8 magnification works, again for me
what works, might not work for others.
USOptics all the way!!!!!!!

USO is soooo far out of my budget I would need a telescope to see it

That SN3 for $1650 yesterday killed me

I am waiting on 7mmRM to give me some feedback on the Bushnell once he gets to run it for a couple of weeks so that will help me decide too.

I also found out that they are releasing a 1/10 Mil adjustment 3200 10x as well.

So many wants so little $$.
